Watch the bottom edges and corners for issues if buying singles. That was a bit messy this time.
What's Buzz-worthy: Delays and shelf-clearers have kind of slowed my roll ripping USA Baseball stuff in recent years -- it used to be an affordable go-to and it still can be, but I'm not worried about not finding it if I wait and I let others gobble them up, though this one might not be as high on their radars as they should be given the potential. There will be something around via the various formats now made. How? The hobby boxes here have evolved where it's almost all hits and a parallel card, leaving the team set boxes (with bonus ink), blasters and these mega boxes the more-traditional formats. ... The lineup here is perhaps simpler than some past years but there's still plenty to be found -- even in this format where you get three hits of some type every time. ... Why rip? Well, if you want some of the earliest cards and autographs possible for guys who could end up being stars in the high school, college or pro ranks later all with a universal clean look that's this release. My autos, for example, here have years before first drafting is possibile as they are members of the 16U/17U team and the base cards include notable players even younger than that. The volume of parallels here is high -- that's probably the meat over time if you rip in bulk you can sell off as singles or a bulk lots over time as players emerge as notables at different levels. Due to age ranges here, this one will have more time potential than a lot of prospect sets where players are done in just a few years, though that's not as obviously seen in baseball as it is with other sports. These guys could emerge as notables out of high school, during JUCO or NCAA play and could end up drafted more than once, which would prompt collector interest even if they don't sign and get picked later. USA stuff is packed with notables -- this year's No. 1 draft pick is likely in there more than once in the base set alone -- and that applies to boxes from the past as well as more-recent years. If you turn back the clock, there are established big-leaguers all over the place and this one will be no different ... it will just take time for them to emerge from the rest.

Product Grade: A-
Box Grade: B (watch the back bottom edges of cards here -- a lot of chipping)
Fun Grade: B- (see above ... that hurt this one, though maybe it's not across all boxes)
