What's Buzz-worthy: Nothing has really caught my attention out in the retail wild, so I opted for four more of these (cheaper = more Buzz Breaks) and this one landed my rarest card of the year with the Team Color parallel checking in at one in 229 packs here ... though it arrived with two bum corners. The rest? Pretty standard with some star power among the base and inserts but not the best rookie crop. The 1990 Witt here looks good and Wood card among the repetitive retail-only inserts might not be bad in the here and now ... but most stuff here isn't a big deal over time as more and more packs are opened. Right now? Probably came out ahead. ... As I noted before, the foilboard effect is back on every single card but instead of going dark on the borders it's a mash-up of 1982, 1984 and 2019 with a light modern look this time around. Does it work? Yes. ... The new Diamante parallels bring some funk -- they're different and I don't mind them -- but the lineup of what's in these packs is ultimately the same as last year with the Stars Of MLB cards once again carrying more retail weight here -- definitely still needs more variety in this format. ... The 1990 cards are the home to some good ink and some rarer chases -- some Frank Thomas NNOF homages that are rare -- but I opted for the smaller format where that stuff is less likely to be found. If you like what you see, rip into jumbo for your best results and a guaranteed autograph and Relic and maybe more. I might dabble with a second retail format if it presents itself but, for now, the smaller bites are all I need for this one.
