What's Buzz-worthy: I like the concept here -- and the extras -- but I actually opened none of these last year as the novelty of them had worn off after 2023 vs. the costs in 2024. This is a new year, so I bit again and this might be the largest box format I rip this year ... mostly because of need. If I need something in particular, I'll probably just do singles, but I think some of the extras here might be more interesting down the line vs. a lot of the base cards, which will be very, very findable between all of the boxes that all include flagship base cards this year. The Companion card here was a winner -- there are 25 and I landed key rookie Dylan Crews -- and my pin was a good name to find, too. The rest of my bonus cards only found here? Below average. The RCs in the regular packs -- about half as many as I found in my 2023 Topps Update box of this type -- also was lean but saved by Crews. My inserts had some key names but the parallels there also were rough and overall the inserts weren't big but for a couple names and a coupe slightly rarer but not impossible finds. There's a lot to be found in this release and the retail Stars Of MLB are heavy here ... but they are heavy in other pack formats, too, to the point where even the best names are going to be dirt cheap over time. The All-Topps and Call cards are a smidge rarer where they won't be in every box of this format but it won't take a lot to find them overall ... so this one was solid but short of an A-level box overall. The Companion card can pay for a good chunk of the box but not much else does. A good box but a solid double/triple kind of box. Had I landed one other bigger card or had a better run of inserts/RCs then this would have been an easy A. It's close.
Product Grade: A-
Box Grade: B+ (saved by the Crews companion and RC, Witt pin and a few inserts with key names or slightly rarer finds ... parallels and most RCs were below average)
Fun Grade: B+
