What's Buzz-worthy: You ever have one of those times where you find a ransacked retail aisle but then see something where you know you shouldn't do it ... but you do (still leaving some for the kids) and then it delivers huge? This is one of those times for me. I spotted five of these on a shelf but opted for only two -- figuring it might be about the same as last time -- but this time it delivered huge. It delivered one of the biggest RCs you can get out of the big mystery here. The mystery? The three Purple parallel cards are from 2019 Topps Update blister packs that were headed to Meijer stores but, from what at least Twitter user has said, that didn't happen. Yet they are found here. (My money is on there being a snafu somewhere in the planning where packs didn't get set aside for the release but the cards were made ... so MJ Holding put them into these.) That company handles repacks made for Meijer but they can also be found at other stores. Atop that, the Purples have to be a lot rarer than other retail-only chains, since Meijer has far fewer stores not in all areas of the country -- so they should be rarer than people think atop the limited release. ... Busting this one, I was greeted with the auto and then the mem and then the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. card right on top. After that, well ... it didn't matter. A copy of this card sold on eBay this week for more than $500 -- no, really -- and the only active one on eBay is far higher. I'll slab mine up since this card is a talker -- and I'm sure some people won't even click on this Buzz Break seeing what it is -- but, wow. At least now I know that the big names are, indeed, possible in these boxes and were not set aside. I'd assume that at some point there might be fresher repacks to come where 2019 Update cards are no longer in there -- there's no way to know, really -- but I think I'm sold on picking these off when I see them now. Box Grade: A++ (it's a gimmick grade ... but for the price it's warranted. And it's a first.)
Fun Grade: A (it didn't matter what else was in there after that start)
