What's Buzz-worthy: This sequel to the hit arrival of Rick and Morty on cardboard seems like it breaks from the Cryptozoic routine for non-sports cards in a few ways -- and it all works. While you go get a full base set here, it's a smaller one and you'll actually get a half-set, too. (Typically, larger sets arrive in full with few dupes.) The base cards also feel thicker and glossier -- a stock I'd love to see from every card company everywhere -- so much gloss that you won't be able to stack them on an uneven table. The insert sets are in higher volume here and you don't complete them all, which gives you a reason to rip into a second box beyond just chasing hits. Those inserts also add more volume and variety to your packs, something I think helps make this rip more interesting. My first pack included one of the two hits -- sketch cards were a big deal here in the first run -- and the second was an auto from a deep roster of signers that once again included pricey ink from show creators and other key members. Many of those come with inscriptions, too. This hit series was a hit on cardboard last time around and this one feels strong to me, without a deep knowledge of the show. Those who get it and love it? They'll be all over this one.
