It's not a Flerken ... it's the Mile High Comics mystery box guardian known as Cambridge. (Something like that.)

From time to time, Buzz will break a box of something and post the results here. Like this and want to see more? Or maybe there's a box you'd want to see busted? Send Buzz an email at BlowoutBuzz@blowoutcards.com.

Disclaimer: This one's definitely a different kind of Buzz Break ... just for fun.

The box: Mile High Comics Five-pound Mystery Pack comics box
Where to buy:
Via Mile High Comics ($39.95 now) ... BlowoutCards.com for new comic cards

The stated inclusions:
-- 36 comics
(Previously noted as approximately 50 percent Marvel/DC, 25 percent larger independents (such as Image, Dark Horse, IDW, etc.) and 25 percent smaller publishers.")
-- Also included: One Mile High Comics exclusive variant ... though it's no longer a stated guarantee. (Lots no longer have even the above noted like they did when I first did one of these.) See everything from this in the gallery below.

What's Buzz-worthy: I recently did an impulse buy for a couple of single Deadpool issues in advance of the new movie to come (future Buzz Buys items) and rather than spend too much more time issue hunting and doing discount-code math to get to free shipping -- it was early and I wasn't yet properly caffeinated that day -- I opted for one of these mystery lots to put me over the top. Why? Just to present another oddball Buzz Break here and I had some interesting results here my first time diving into one of these a few years ago.

This time around, I got 36 books in the mix -- some premium titles, some gimmick covers and some older cheaper stuff -- and then a Mile High variant that used to be a teased inclusion but now might be an un-mentioned surprise each time (I only did one so I'm not 100-percent sure). ... I've had two trends that are getting my attention a little more than normal. Those trends? Mystery boxes and bulk lots -- and this kind of hits them both, but for a realm I haven't seriously explored as much in a long time. So you can consider this a newbie type of buying situation. (Check out our Bargain Breaks section here for cheap bulk buys -- both boxes and pack lots for cards. I hit that one often.) This box comes via Mile High Comics, a Denver-based mega-store chain that's been going since 1974 and I'll say that the curiosity got me here as part of the appeal of bulk lots is the chase ... or the dig. If you have a card (or comics) shop nearby, you know how that can go with a bargain bin to dig through.

I liked the mix of this one -- and the condition was cleaner than when I more recently did a tailored X-Men-only lot via MHC -- and this one included a solid mix of everything with Hit-Girl, Wolverine, Rogue, X-Men, Spider-Man, Star Wars, The Avengers, Witchblade, some early 1990s Valiant, Marvel, DC, Image and more in there with a Chromium-wraparound cover, a Chromium special, a die-cut book and even a graphic novel that looks quite clean. I didn't check each issue to see what kind of demand and appearances might be in play here but for abut $1 a pop I wasn't too worried. It's a good mix and most stuff was quite clean, too

Product Grade: A (I like the idea ... for dabbling)
Box Grade:
A-
Fun Grade: B+ (variety = fun for the price ... as a newbie)
