What's Buzz-worthy: This second series of Topps Now Future packs is apparently still available and shipping in waves -- I like that move as seeing breaks might entice me to buy more if I'm looking. This series includes two more cards per pack and is a few bucks more ($20 per) but the allure of autographs and tribute sets for award-winners seems like something that could have a better shelf-life as the season continues vs. simply focusing on World Series-winning teams that the first series did. Autographed packs are announced at one in seven packs overall and this pair included one of a huge name last season and a big name overall in Shohei Ohtani, but him winning American League MVP might take a serious surge the rest of the season. The checklist of this one includes six sets -- the MVP, Rookie of the Year and Cy Young winners in each league -- and includes four Wildcard names in case the eventual winners weren't on the 150-card checklist. Parallels can be found limited to 199, 99, 49, 25, 10, five and a 1/1 version for both the player sets and the autographs though it looks like the starting auto is the 199 version. All in all, I feel like these deliver more potential than the first wave, though I'd rather have seen that Snell for the Cy Young more than MVP -- let pitchers win MVP via the Wildcard route as it just doesn't happen that often (fewer than 10 times in the last 50 years). I think a couple of my names have potential here right now but nothing is a given as it's a long season.
