Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.
So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ... and this time around there's some new stuff and some oddball stuff as I'm still waiting on a bunch of pick-ups to arrive.

A BIGGER DEAL
The Card: Jasson Dominguez 2020 Bowman wall art (/99)
The Price: $17.50 (after promotional discount)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy's iconic card this year has eluded me beyond a couple of standard Bowman cards I pulled in blasters -- all I really wanted was a clean grading-worthy Chrome, but no -- so I opted for a limited version of a card that's a big deal this year but in bigger form as Topps wall art. This is an 11-by-13 version of the card that Topps sold on its site for $24.99 (sold out) but with a 30 percent discount if you buy three posters of any kind. I opted for this one and some other stuff you'll see here in the coming weeks and months. Will Dominguez pay off for the many chasing him? We'll find out eventually but this one fits into my stash pretty well no matter what as I try to pick off Rookie Cards as wall art -- mostly Heritage but I also include a few other iconic cards.

LEGENDARY RARITY
The Card: Ernie Davis 2010 Certified Mirror Red Materials (/75) (Fanatics encased)
The Price: About $40
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This pickup wasn't because it was slabbed, it was because this card's condition is definitely grading-worthy -- the kind that looks like a 9.5 or 10 caliber which isn't easily done with memorabilia cards. It's also a quality card. This former College Football Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner's story is a somber one as he died from leukemia at age 23 less than two years after he was taken with the first pick in the 1962 NFL Draft. He never played a pro game and appeared on just a couple of football cards made around that time, but about half of his 100 or so total football cards since are memorabilia cards -- a run that started with the cards found in this release. The swatch is from Davis' 1962 College All-Star Game jersey that came from his family and sold for $23,900 in 2010 via Dallas-based Heritage Auctions. Most of his mem cards are low-volume creations -- and none have been made since a single college release had two different cards in 2017. Will any more be made in the future? It doesn't seem super-likely or we would have seen some by now, right?

LIMITED KIND OF ITEM
The Card: Frank Robinson 2011 Panini Limited Limited Gamers Caps (/55)
The Price: $7.45
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This Hall of Famer is a guy I collect somewhat casually but with a focus more on just hits -- and this is a solid example of why. It's a game-used cap card -- looks like it's from his Reds days -- that's low-volume (because caps are smaller) and, more importantly, low-priced. The design is a bit funky but I've seen worse things for mem cards. Hat cards are rare enough in general that I bit quickly.

COLORFUL PROJECT
The Card: Rickey Henderson 2020 Topps Project 2020 -- Artist: Matt Taylor (/2,104)
The Price: Factory cost from Topps
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This Project 2020 card was from the earlier days of the set when this many copies sold was considered a higher number. I started doing this set with the intent to do a Rickey run but a couple of lesser cards since have left me punting on that concept -- so instead you see it here. (Then again, you were seeing it here no matter what ... other ones just got the nod here first.) Why does this one work for me? It plays off the original, which is a perfectly composed baseball card -- this takes that and cranks up the color hard. The original is better but this one ain't bad and that's why I grabbed it.

SLAYED BY THE CENTERING
The Card: Buffy "The Vampire Slayer" Summers Trading Cards 5 by artist Cuyler Smith (/90)
The Price: $15
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The artist behind this series brings the reel world's stars to the real world as trading card-sized lithos for memorable characters on tweaked designs that should also be familiar. Buffy gets a go on a Fleer-style card that's (dagger through my heart) unfortunately got some retro centering for the Sunnydale cheerleader. I've picked up a few cards over the years from Smith whose latest series dropped last month via Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. Just 90 copies per card were made this time with sets, packs and framed displays eating into those totals -- and they vanish fast. (No gallery show this year -- just online sales -- and they still went quick.) I picked up three cards this year -- could have easily done more -- and you'll see the others in the coming weeks and months. Why? Just for some fun variety here.

MAKING A RUN FOR IT ...
The Card: T.J. Yeldon 2016 Panini Certified Certified Gamers -- standard, Orange, Red, Blue, Gold (as rare as /25)
The Price: About $16 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy with school ties for me is an affordable player to pick off -- and the fact that all of these cards contain material from the jersey you see him wearing on the card from Oct. 4, 2015, makes it even better. This was a 16-13 overtime loss for the Jags vs. the Colts with Yeldon rushing 22 times for 105 yards in the game. There are eight versions of this card and I was able to pick off five of them all at once. All I need now? The 1/1 Black, Green (/5) and Purple (/10) versions. Will I chase them hard or pay up big? Probably not -- this was a convenience pick-up, but we'll see.

COLORFUL LEGEND
The Card: Satchel Paige 2014 Panini Hall of Fame Crusades Red (/75)
The Price: Just $2
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This set is a bit of an oddity as it's an Optichrome stock release in the midst of a foil-heavy Hall of Famer release but it's a solid combo of rare card at a low price for a legend who doesn't appear on a boatload of cardboard. These cards also have a ton of parallels -- seven cards plus printing plates -- and this is the easiest of the serial-numbered versions. (Only the basic one is not numbered.) It's an interesting set -- I never ripped any boxes as I waited too long to see if the prices would fall and they essentially vanished -- but I do have a few different cards from these sets since they are so cheap.

GOT THEM MAD HITS ...
The Card: Alfred E. Neuman 1992 Lime Rock MAD Promos
The Price: $2
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I was clearly on a promo card kick when I picked this one up -- I think that niche could make some people some money if they choose wisely with the right sets and some slabbing -- but I think I grabbed this awhile back simply because of the 1988 Topps homage. After looking up the issue (No. 282, Oct. 1988), I think I might have had this one -- or at least remembered seeing it -- not because of the cover but because of the back that had a "sheet" of 1988 Topps styled All-Star Flopps "Mad Cards" for a few names in the news. Jimmy Swaggart, Cher and Oprah Winfrey are among them ... and for some reason I remember those.

LIMA, OHIO'S FINEST (NO, NOT GLEE)
The Card: Al Snow 2014 Leaf Originals Wrestling Yellow (/50)
The Price: $4.75
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy knows a tremendous amount of stuff within his lifelong craft of pro wrestling and has seen a ton of things -- go find some shoot interviews out there (some language) and you'll see he's a smart dude. Some past viewing made me wonder what cardboard he might have and I grabbed this for a fun and affordable addition to the stash. He's pretty much worked nearly everywhere in recent years and also behind the scenes helping create new stars. This card shows the classic run from ECW/WWE where he would talk to a mannequin head named Head -- because all of his loses in matches piled up and drove him mad.

GAME-USED HELMET
The Card: Alex Avila 2011 Panini Limited Hard Hats (/93)
The Price: $2.75
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Game-used bating helmet cards aren't something you see every day -- they are out there just not as routine as jerseys or bats -- and the price was right here along with him being a player with school ties for my stash. The swatch itself isn't colorful but neither is the player.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ...
The Card: Jason Hervey 2010 TRISTAR TNA Xtreme Autographs Gold (/99)
The Price: Under $4
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This former Wonder Years actor can be found in a number of other places in the past -- Back to the Future, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Police Academy 2 and Diff'rent Strokes -- but when it comes to autographs and trading cards this past wrestling release is basically the only place to find him (half of his cards are autographs with his rather minimalist sig). He's got television production experience in his past that led him to TNA and he's been involved with reality TV, game shows and docs with his production company along with wrestling exec Eric Bischoff.

PROMO PACK SURPRISES
The Card: 1995 Score Summit promo packs
The Price: Not much (part of a past lot)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Nothing here is pricey, but there are some notable players involved and these types of cards can be slightly tougher to find than you might think -- or at least tougher than the standard ones. These premium cards show Albert Belle, Barry Larkin, David Cone, Cal Ripken Jr., Alex Gonzalez, Charles Johnson and it also includes Big Bang inserts for Jose Canseco and Fred McGriff. They're pretty much the same save for an obnoxiously large SAMPLE across the fronts and backs of the cards. As I mentioned before, promo cards have some potential.

PAIR OF LEFTIES
The Card: Ken Stabler & Michael Vick 2003 Fleer Tradition Classic Combinations Dual Memorabilia (/100)
The Price: $9.25
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Fleer used to do a lot of combo memorabilia cards like this where there were actually three versions -- a card for each player and then the combo. The Hall of Famer of this left-handed duo is why I was buying here and the price felt right as I've seen it higher (those too high) compared to what I paid. Older Hall of Famer mem cards are safe pick-ups if you ask me and this is a classic example of that, though the Vick baggage here might not help this time.

FANTASTIC CARDBOARD?
The Card: Coolio 2015 Panini Americana Signatures
The Price: Under $4
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Believe it or not, this is not the first autograph card appearance for this 1990s rapper who also acted in a ton of TV and film roles through the years. His first auto? The 2003 Topps Daredevil movie set. Most of his cards in this set are numbered and on the rarer side, but this version was a dirt-cheap pick-up. Why? I like having a wide array of unique autographs. Simple as that.
