Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals just might be to rip fewer blasters this year and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention. Would they capture yours? I'd be interested to know -- sometimes they might, sometimes they won't and that's fine. It's a buyer's market out there with plenty of options and bargains as well as high-end gems to chase.

So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ... and this time around they're (mostly) affordable finds.

A PIECE OF THE OCTAGON
The Card: Jon Fitch 2010 Topps UFC Main Event Authentic Cage Relics
The Price: $2.45
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This card was not one bought for the fighter but rather the type of Relic -- and you should know with this series that I'm a fan of unusual memorabilia cards. Bronze, Silver and Gold parallels can be found for this set which has a piece of the Octagon embedded into every card. There are 30 fighters in this one with the likes of Anderson Silva, Brock Lesnar, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Rashad Evans and Georges St-Pierre among them. The Bronze (/88) are the easiest of the parallels while Silvers are limited to just eight copies and the Golds are 1/1s. Even retail boxes include a hit in these every time -- a mix of autos and Relics -- and the link below includes more than one option for you to chase stuff fresh from packs without spending a ton. This basic set has a strong lineup and some good highlights and these cards are unique (I don't think there are many others like it, if any). The parallels give you a tough chase but the basic set is do-able. I'm not there yet, but with super-cheap lesser names possible the set is perhaps more do-able than you might think on the cheap.

FINDING NIMMO?
The Card:
Brandon Nimmo 2016 Topps Update Rookie Card
The Price:
$1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
There's a reason you don't see a lot of prediction pieces on The Buzz -- too often they can make any writer look stupid -- but if I did do them, this guy might be right there to do good things this season. (Ignore the early stats and that beanball to the hand yesterday.) One reason this card is here, though? It's his only Rookie Card from a fully licensed MLB set -- and he only has a few others from that year from Panini. I picked this one up cheap as I wasn't sure if I had one or not (or, admittedly, didn't want to go digging to find it if I do). Asking prices in some situations can be hefty for parallels of this card, and I figured I'd see if I could find one of these that's slab-worthy. His path to MLB was an unusual one and he's played pretty well in a major market -- a cardboard situation like this could get interesting if he builds upon what he did last season. There could be some gains for a basic RC like this -- and his first Bowman Chrome autos show you there's already interest in general. It just depends on how things go on the field this season.

THE BIG STAR OF DAREDEVIL
The Card: "Mother's State" 2018 Upper Deck Daredevil Seasons 1-2 cyan printing plate
The Price: $8.71
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: If Buzz was a little more silent than usual some past weekends it might have been due to some Daredevil season binges -- not because I wanted to see more of the dude in the n0t-red suit but because the big star of the Netflix series was its main villain, Kingpin. As best I can tell, Vincent D'Onofrio has never had a certified autograph, so the best I could do here for something Wilson Fisk was a printing plate. The autograph lineup for this one includes several of the top names and there's either ink or a sketch in every box and plenty more. It's worth a look -- both on Netflix and by the box.

LOOK AT THE DETAILS ...
The Card:
David Justice 1991 Topps Gallery of Champions Bronze
The Price:
$3.45
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
From 1984 to 1991, Topps released small sets of what were called Gallery of Champions metal cards made from aluminum, bronze and silver. Typically these were for the league leaders or award-winners -- the top names each year -- and they were something you could easily land via old department store Christmas catalogs. I've picked off a few in the past here and there, but until recently I didn't even realize that they were made in 1990 and 1991. This was one that jumped out at me considering its price so I grabbed it -- I like the look of the 1991 set with the team name as part of the design and the rookie cup here, but it's odd that this release punted the borders of the cards. The aluminum sets can feel a little weak in terms of their weight but the other metals are heavy and impressive little pieces. They're not that big (it's in a top-loader above but seriously cropped in) less than 1.5 inches wide, but each and every stat is also sculpted onto the card backs. They're impressive little pieces you don't see everyday and that's why you see it here today.

GAME-USED ... BY NFL COACHES
The Card:
2016 Panini Day Game-dated Materials challenge flag card
The Price:
$3.41
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This is the kind of memorabilia card I'd buy all day long at a price like this because it's simple, it's way more unique than any game-used jersey card and it's just not been done very often. It's a piece of a coach's challenge flag and as you can see on the card it was used in the Bills-Dolphins game on Sept. 27, 2015. What were you doing that day? Buzz was in development just a couple weeks away from making his debut.

BEFORE BILLY RIPKEN ...
The Card:
1977 Topps Star Wars C-3PO error card PSA 4
The Price:
About $40.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I've been picking off slabs more than I've ever done in the last few months, and this is one that I've had waiting to appear on a monthly Making The Grade. Instead, I may work in some of them here simply because I've picked off so many of late. Why did I grab this one? It's a relatively rare error card that might make Billy Ripken blush. Years before Ripken's bad bat made headlines, this card featured an errant piece of costume added in a photo on set and it was then later removed after it hit cardboard. Like the Ripken error, this one sells pretty well and graded copies can command more than you might think -- and higher than this for this grade, too, believe it or not. (PSA 9s are around $300-450 apiece in recent eBay sales.) I didn't feel the need for a high-grade copy of this one, instead I simply opted for an affordable and cleanly centered one. Centering is far from easily found at times with 1970s stuff.
