Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.

So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ...

WADDLE, WADDLE, WADDLE ...
The Piece: Jaylen Waddle autographed 16-by-20 Waddle celebration photo (Fanatics Authentic)
The Price: $75 (on sale)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I picked up this oversized auto on the cheap last week and before his big game with QB Tua Tagovailoa on Sunday as I liked the signature moment seen here and he's a school ties guy in my collection. (Last time here, I had this Tua piece lead off but I didn't even buy them at the same time.) His autograph isn't big -- and it's not that big on this oversized photo, either -- but I figured demand could be on the rise this year and, like I said, it was on sale (normally about $100 before they sold out). An inscribed "Fins Up" option also was/is available but I didn't need that as an Alabama fan. On cards, he has plenty to choose from -- more than 2,300 different autographed cards since just last year as part of the 2021 RC crop -- and a lot of them will cost more than this while many will not. I have an early Score auto with a strong college pic and added this in case they make a run, driving up prices to the point where I can't responsibly look.

A SWEET SURPRISE ... SARAYA!
The Card:
Paige 2016 Topps Heritage WWE Bronze Shirt Relics (/150)
The Price:
About $20
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
She's now known as Saraya -- her real name -- but the wrestling star formerly known as Paige in WWE is back on wrestling TV after a debut on Wednesday night as part of AEW's annual big show in New York. She hasn't wrestled since retiring in 2018 and has been and off TV (but under contract) for a couple years with what has been seen as career-ending neck injuries .... but now she's back. Will she wrestle? We'll see ... she's only 30 and has more in-ring experience than pretty much everybody in AEW. I picked up this Relic so long ago I couldn't find the exact price in my files, but it's been in my batch of stuff waiting for a spot here. I'm a fan and she has a crazy career story -- a movie was made about her family (all pro wrestlers) and life with Florence Pugh playing her. She has been popular for some time and it will be interesting to see how collectors react to her being back on the radar. Want more details about her cards and career? Search her name here on The Buzz ... I've touched on it several times.

PERFECT CARD DESIGN ... BAD CORNER
The Card:
Tua Tagovailoa 2021 Panini Luminance Bright Beginnings Jerseys
The Price:
About $7
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I know some collectors don't like the feel of Luminance -- it has things I don't like, too -- but this card's composition is very non-traditional yet to me a perfect piece of cardboard. It's one that has me pondering doing more of -- there aren't too many parallels here -- but this perfect one was a start. Well, I thought it was perfect ... when it arrived, the bottom left corner here was not ideal and not shown by the seller when I bought it. (You can see a pretty big chunk of white underneath the glare.) That was a big bummer and a reminder I need to limit some of my shopping sources if they play games with images ... but I still like the card.

ONE I NEED TO SLAB ...
The Card: LeBron James 2018-19 Panini Contenders Optic Hall of Fame Contenders Blue Cracked Ice
The Price: A couple of Zions
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This was a nice but odd find as a damaged card replacement after about a year-long wait from Panini after I opted to send in a couple of chrome-stock Zion Williamson Rookie Cards with surface cuts. While I probably would have wanted the Zions in a real-time replacement, after the wait a different card like this isn't a bad result. (I'm not a heavy NBA collector.) Since this is from a better product with a wider spread of cards (a lot of options, small boxes) a rarer un-numbered card like this has some good asking prices. Raw? Under $45 sale. Graded? Asking price that's steeper with an extra number. I don't suspect I'd sell or that it would with that price but you never know with big names and NBA. I'll slab it at some point just for fun.

MY FIRST LOOK AT REVOLUTION ...
The Cards: Cora Jade 2022 Panini Revolution WWE base and Astro parallel -- Rookie Card (and RC parallel)
The Price: About $10 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This brand is not one I have ripped a single pack of -- and that's unusual for WWE stuff from the last 20 years -- but that's just because I'm playing the waiting game since there's not an autograph in every box and because it's a brand that, historically, I just haven't liked. This one does have some stuff I like, though, and a number of names I'd collect or at least get something of here (not doing parallel runs) so I opted for a couple of cards for this WWE newcomer. One of them has a bad foil issue I didn't notice so that was a bust grading-wise while the other I might slab. I'll perhaps dabble here with a box or two if/when boxes drop.

BO'S BIG SEPTEMBER
The Cards:
Bo Bichette 2020 Topps Brooklyn Collection (RC), 2022 Topps Now Road to Opening Day & 2022 Topps Heritage jumbo box-topper
The Price:
About $30
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
The Brooklyn RC cost me the most here -- almost $20 -- but since I collect him that's probably about right. I think I grabbed this since the centering was tight and I like to slab those thick-stock Topps cards as long as they look clean. The Now card was under $2 so I bit, and the jumbo is just one of those card types that I grab from time t0 time with the logic that they might dry up faster than a lot of other stuff since there's not as much of that stuff made. He had a big start to September that should have had me looking more ... but these were all pick-ups from this summer.

BIG BANKS
The Piece:
Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) 2022 Topps Star Wars Living Set prints (/92 ... announced /100)
The Price:
$19.99 direct from Topps
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This one was on my radar for weeks after realizing they were coming up, so I had a calendar marked and pounced the second I saw them -- and I grabbed two before they sold out. (The second is behind this one as I ran out of large top-loaders that's not a bad right edge.) This is my first time grabbing a litho from this line -- I wanted a Baby Yoda but the bots got all those months ago -- and for the most part I dig these, though the blue edges will show any small nicks a lot easier than the white-bordered baseball stuff. I won't be able to chase all of the Star Wars cards this WWE star will have, but the earlier stuff and some like this I will make sure to get over time.

SAY WHAT?
The Piece:
Phish 1999 after-show pass with an Oscar Gamble 1976 Topps Traded homage
The Price:
$9.99
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This isn't something I needed ... but I needed it after finding it. Is it real? Is it fake? Probably ... maybe ... doesn't matter. One of the greatest baseball cards ever made gets a new go here and these passes are actually found in a other colors (orange and blue) so I might need to do a parallel run. These passes are fabric stickers that are printed the same way as the Topps Cloth cards from the past and the ends fray pretty easily ... so that's one reason I didn't pick off the other two for $20 more. I just went with the one that looked the best shape in its color ... for now. A lot of passes like this out there in the world probably aren't real -- some seem way too plentiful -- but it is what it is and the nod to a classic baseball card from a long-running band seemed like a fun piece ... and I can't even name a single Phish song. (But the ice cream is good.)

MONEYBALL!
The Card:
Nick Swisher 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen Hometown Currency Relic (quarter) (/5)
The Price:
About $30
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This one didn't cost pocket change to land the pocket change, but that's OK as he's my player I collect, I don't have any new options and it's rare. I think I have one of the other four made but I'm fine with dupes when so few were made. What is this? GQ used stamps and coins in cards showing where players were born in a few years and that's a West Virginia quarter.

LOOKING BACK INSTANTLY
The Cards:
Cora Jade & Roxanne Perez (/233), Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar (/145) and Damage CNTL (/95) 2022 Panini Instant WWE cards
The Price:
Varied by volume discounts direct from Panini
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This trio of cards were recent pick-ups with the NXT tag champs' reign lasting shorter than the time it took for the card to arrive. (No biggie as it was Perez's first WWE card.) I picked up the other two as throw-ins with my Pat McAfee lot I mentioned here last time to get free shipping but I liked the wrecked-ring match though this victory card doesn't show how outrageous that moment was. Meanwhile, the Bayley return with Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai was a fun moment and is a low-run card. Typically, if I like a card more I'll buy a small lot with an eye on grading the best one from the bunch.

HISTORIC WINNER
The Cards:
Zendaya 2017 UD Marvel Spider-Man Homecoming Silver Web parallels
The Price:
$4 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
These two cards from a past Spider-Man set are among the earlier cards for one of Hollywood's biggest young stars -- Zendaya won her second Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress this year and was the youngest winner back in 2020 for Euphoria -- and I had an eye on one of these for a cheap high-grade slab for the heck of it ... but all that foil said no. Six times. (Stock images got me again.) These cards have a number of parallel colors but I went with these as the numbered stuff can get pricey -- Marvel cards are definitely on peoples' minds -- and she has a lot of options, including a Precious Metal Gems card that at a time wasn't pricey but ain't coming back to any kind of reality now. Ironically, I'm not sure I have seen a minute of anything she's been in -- not even this movie -- but I know her name from everywhere and I think a lot of people might have interest in her cards, too. (She has some other international stickers from earlier in her career but these are the earliest cards I have seen.)

SHE'S BACK!
The Cards:
Scarlett 2020 Topps Undisputed WWE base and Orange parallel (/99) -- Rookie Cards
The Price:
About $13
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
These pick-ups range from quite awhile back (RCs) and then more recently for the parallel after her WWE return with husband Karrion Kross. Ironically, my earlier base buy checked in at nearly the same price as the parallel ... so her stock was definitely higher before their WWE dismissal and not since their return. She's both a managerial chaos-maker as well as a talker and an in-ring competitor, so it'll see how their run on Smackdown goes. She's been active for a decade working around the world but doesn't have a lot of cardboard beyond a few WWE sets and some Stardom cards from Japan in packs -- and then some smaller indy set appearances. This set's parallels with their simple added color really work for me and the orange works well with the lighting that tinted her image here. (Her Finest RC looks weird as she's red with the background cut out.)

LEGENDARY SIDE-EYE
The Mag:
Walter Payton -- Sports Illustrated, Aug. 16 1982
The Price:
$8
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This bargain buy isn't one that's perfect but I don't mind with older issues as long as the main visual is clean. This isn't this "rookie cover" -- that first comes in 1976 -- but this is, I believe, his second and it's along the lines of how other memorable images of him on the weekly's front. (Three of his five or so covers are head shots like this or similar to it.) The typography isn't great but I've seen worse in the era and the image is still the king of this cover. Will I grade it? Maybe, but there are a ton of better and mintier books in line before this one.

SCHOOL COLORS FOR THE OTHER GUY
The Cards:
Assorted early Jerry Jeudy 2021 RCs or parallels
The Price:
Pocket change (mostly) up to $5 for the Optic Red
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Of the two Alabama WRs who were big deals last year, Jeudy and Waddle, I may have chosen wrong to some degree when picking off cheap cards for my school colors stash. I thought I had a bunch of Waddles sitting in my images waiting to use here after that big game but ... nada. (That, or I showed them off in a previous Buys piece.) These were all early buys for me with a preference for Crimson and parallels that matched ... though a Broncos card did sneak in.

GOING YOUNG (AND UNLICENSED FOR ONCE) ... AGAIN
The Set:
2022 Kevin Gust Rising Stars Of Wrestling set (with parallels)
The Price:
 $15
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is my second one of these it pops up again since I landed a 1/1 for AEW star Jade Cargill who doesn't have much cardboard of any kind and then a Blue (also rare) for Raquel Rodriguez, who is now on the main WWE roster. ... As I said last time, I don't often dabble with artist-creation card sets (licensing, legal and, most importantly, reprinting issues can always happen) but this Japanese menko-style release was really interesting to me for the price as it's loaded with a lot of young, key names in today's wrestling world for WWE's NXT 2.0 and for AEW. Each set also included a pair of parallels for early orders so I figured why not ... and when they arrived I found that the quality printing done for this one was quite strong. They're sold out but you should check 'em out on eBay if you like what you see. I suspect some of these cards might pop up on eBay with the names involved.

ON THE COVER OF A ROLLING STONE ...
The Mag:
Alanis Morissette -- Rolling Stone Nov. 2, 1995
The Price:
$12
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
You wouldn't know it from this Buys piece, but I have slowed on my old-mag buying for possible grading -- I went in pretty hard earlier this year but have slowed as condition and mailing damage have made for a lot of disappointment -- but this one simply wasn't that. These larger mags can't be slabbed -- the slabs aren't that big -- but I grabbed this one thinking it would be very clean and it was as it had a subscription renewal wrap around it from back in the day that helped keep the cover from being mangled in mailing. She's a 1990s icon and I picked up an autographed photo (see a past Buys piece) that used an image from the inner spread here. That and the condition got me to bite. If CGC ever trots out a larger-format slab, they could have a ton of submissions for this iconic publication.

A BRAVE BEFORE ATLANTA
The Card:
Max Fried 2016 Topps Heritage Minor League Edition
The Price:
Around $1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This World Series winner's earliest cards show him in the wrong uniform (Padres) but this one is an earlier card that shows him in the right one ... just the wrong cap. I need to pick a player like this and do a run of all Heritage cards in his career and slab them ... he'd be a really cheap but quality candidate.

A FIRST FIGURE ...
The Piece:
Shotzi 2022 Mattel WWE Elite action figure
The Price:
Around $25
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This high-energy WWE star isn't new to fans now -- her name and character is pretty much an evolution of her work as an indy wrestler, too -- but this is her first action figure. My days of wandering around Toys R Us aisle are long gone and my want-to to check other big-box stores for toys is way down -- just like their inventory -- but I picked this one up from the main online dealer for wrestling toys. I grabbed it along with the Thunder Rosa I mentioned here recently to see if a variant chase might work. It did, making the slight premiums paid worth it. This is a detailed one -- the tattoos are even accurate down to where her late father's face is on her toy, too -- now we all just need a tank to go with it.

BIG BITE, LITTLE DOG
The Card:
El Paso Chihuahuas 2016 Topps MLB Wacky Packages MiLB stickers
The Price:
$1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I grabbed this long ago but it's been in my stash here waiting for some time. (Why? I don't know. It's just odd so it didn't make the cut many times.) So, why? Well, I try to pick off anything showing Chico, their mascot, but don't chase down all of the players' cards with the logo. This oddball is kind of a similar but not -- not a mascot but not a player ... so I bit.

FOOD ISSUE ...
The Card:
Wade LeBlanc 2019 Topps Utz
The Price:
Pocket change
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This one was a pick-up just to say I had a card from this oddball food-issue set -- I never saw them in-person that year -- and since it was simply a sampler I opted for a player with school ties. A common veteran for sure, but at least I have one of his game-used jerseys somewhere in my stash.

THE DUDE ...
The Card:
Livid Lebowski 2019 Topps Garbage Pail Kids: We Hate the '90s Films Stickers Puke parallel
The Price:
$1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Odes to The Big Lebowski really tie my collection together, man. I slabbed a pair of the base stickers and I'm sure I grabbed this one with an eye on slabbing only to realize the centering wasn't as good as what I was hoping for once it was in-hand. It's not bad but it's not perfect, either. Was I livid? Nah, nah man. Strikes and gutters, ups and downs.

'MANIA INK
The Piece:
Rhea Ripley autographed WrestleMania 37 photo (/37 ... edition created/released by WWE)
The Price:
Just over $20
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This young WWE star won the Raw Women's Championship at this WrestleMania but that's not why I picked this one up. I liked the price considering only 37 were made and signed. Simple as that. I have a number of her signed cards and none of them were as affordable as this one was.

ODDBALL APPEAL
The Piece:
Cole Bros. Circus -- 1949 complimentary ticket
The Price:
$8
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This popped up on a search for vintage paper collectibles at one place I look, and the more I looked at this the longer it stayed in my cart until I scooped it up with some other old stuff of varying condition. Did I need this? Absolutely not. Do I think it's way more valuable than that? Maybe not -- there are other promotors who did shows that are more famous -- but this one ran from the 1880s until into the 2000s so there might be some who remember the name. Visually, though, it's just interesting and the condition here was too nice to pass on considering it's more than 70 years old and on very light cardboard. It truly shouldn't exist ... yet it is close to flawless. This is an oddball kind of item that would present well in a slab but I'm not quite going there on that front just yet. I may dabble and submit some tickets at some point -- this would be one for fun -- but not yet.

HISTORY MADE
The Card:
Carson Pickett 2021 Parkside NWSL Vol. 2 Series 1 Update Variations -- Rookie Card (variation)
The Price:
$1.75
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Earlier this year, she made her debut for the U.S. National Team in a game, becoming the first player with a limb difference to play for the team -- that's what got me to see what she had for cards. She has a few and this release has a lot of in-demand names for various reasons. Pickett has had a lengthy and successful career -- check out the basics here -- and she only has a couple dozen cards or so. I suspect she'll have more to come with USA time.

LOOKING BACK ...
The Piece:
The Four Horsewomen of WWE (Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley and Charlotte Flair) -- Rob Schamberger WWE Select Series Print Sets -- Wave 13 (/50) and Wave 26 (/25)
The Price:
Around $15 per set
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This WWE artist has been at it creating pieces for wrestling stars for some time and these are smaller sets of 4-by-6 prints are signed and numbered editions found only on his site. I bit here awhile back since they were on sale and I had a discount code to use, too. I initially ordered a couple sets to grab some new pieces for new WWE stars who didn't have any cards yet -- they're here in a past edition -- but I also picked up this core four for the WWE twice. I like the feel of these as cards -- they are very close -- in top-loaders.

POSTUMOUS PICK-UPS
The Cards:
Luke Harper, Regis Philbin, Don Shula, Tarvaris Jackson, Mike Bell, Colt Brennan, Carlton Haselrig & Ed Farmer
The Price:
Pocket change up to $7 or so.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Each of these were pick-ups after reading their stories and learning more about their careers or lives after they died. Do I have past cards of Don Shula, Luke Harper or Regis Philbin? Yep, but curiosity always gets me to go look and see what they might have if I happen to catch the news via a tweet. The Mike Bell, for instance, is his only certified auto card despite coming from an established multi-generational MLB family and being around the game for a long time. (Landed it for $1.) Farmer is his Rookie Card from a career before being a broadcaster and the Haselrig is an RC, too, from his NFL career that came after he was a six-time NCAA wrestling champ. (Didn't know that.) I wasn't sure if I had any Harper Relics (he's the priciest card here) and the Philbin is a stamped buyback that looked interesting for the price and so on. These were piling up for months in my stashed pics of pick-ups and then I realized they all had something in common.

OH, YEAH!
The Mags:
"Macho Man" Randy Savage and Elizabeth -- past Inside Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Illustrated issues
The Price:
About $25 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Earlier this year I briefly went on a kick for higher-grade (but still cheap) copies of non-WWE mags with big names of 1980s wrestling on the covers. PWI is the fun one that is perhaps only second to the production quality of the WWF/WWE mags once it got rolling, but some iconic issues get really expensive. Meanwhile, the photo on the Inside issue here is iconic and I remember having that one back in the day. Would I grade here? Maybe. Paper quality isn't strong on the covers or inside but two of these are pretty strong visuals and I think that goes a long way in slabs for added "appeal/value" no matter what the grade. The Megapowers cover (middle) has some odd headline stacking and the photo is too tight ... but its condition was strong and I was buying a few things at one time to get a discount. I've slowed but I'll always be looking for some issues in peak condition.

A FAN OF KEVIN GARNETT
The Card:
Craig Kilborn 2019 Goodwin Champions Memorabilia
The Price:
Under $1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This former ESPN personality and late-night host is off the pop-culture radar for the most part, but that didn't stop him from showing up in this annual catch-all with his first certified autos and memorabilia cards. I picked up his ink for little more than $1 long ago and this was cheaper than that ... something different to have in the mem-card stash.

UNUSUAL COLOR SCHEME
The Card:
Randall Cunningham 2020 Panini Luminance Vintage Materials
The Price:
$5
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I'm pretty sure I've never opened a single pack of Luminance but I have looked for singles and this is proof -- and it's proof that the price is probably what got me here because this color scheme just doesn't agree with me now at all. (Translation: I don't know what I was thinking.) Maybe if that background had been green? Either way, Cunningham was a favorite of mine back in the day and that's another reason this one ended up in my hands.

NOTE THE NUMBER ...
The Card:
Roger Maris 2012 Topps Triple Threads Sepia parallel (/625)
The Price:
Under $1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This pick-up wasn't really about the price -- but from a high-end brand that does stand out -- but rather it's about the serial-numbering as 61 is a key with anything Maris. Is this a big deal? Nah, and it would be better as 61/625, but I grabbed it anyway. He might even be in the news even more here soon thanks to Aaron Judge.

ONE OF HIS ROOKIE CARDS
The Card:
Dave Stewart 1982 Fleer -- Rookie Card
The Price:
$1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This is the kind of card I'd slab but this one just isn't clean enough given its registration and that rough left edge ... but it was cleaner than all the other copies I saw that would have cost me more back when I was looking. Stewart played for a few teams and this one was from before my time watching MLB, but it's still one of his three Rookie Cards and those appeal to me even in the wrong uniform -- I'd want them all slabbed at the right price. Maybe I need to look and see if anybody has them now that his number was recently retired by the Oakland A's where he had his best successes in his career.

UNUSUAL INK
The Card:
John Thorn 2018 Topps Archives Fan Favorites Autographs Purple (/150)
The Price:
$10
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
MLB's official historian since 2011, Thorn has been in the game for years and actually first latched onto the game via baseball cards. While this isn't his first card, his inclusion in Archives with autographs got me to look and this parallel is actually not the only one I picked up. This one was cheap for the parallel volume, so I grabbed it. The stock here is light so damage with on-card ink is easy -- and purple doesn't help -- but his autos in this one are his only certified cards.

PENNY?
The Cards:
Kaley Cuoco appearances on 2006 Inkworks Charmed: Destiny Promo & Lifelines card
The Price:
About $6 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Cuoco has a ton of cards over in The Big Bang Theory sets but these are here as I present a question ... are these some of her first trading cards? I stumbled upon them searching for non-sports promos, not even knowing she appeared on this long-running show with a lot of cardboard, too. (Never watched a minute of it back then.) She did have memorabilia cards in Charmed sets but no ink -- she signed for only two Theory releases, by the way -- but first cards? I'm pretty sure these are among them. I'll probably grade one of them for the heck of it, too. (The other arrived with surface damage.)

OLDSCHOOL INK
The Card:
Kordell Stewart 1995 Superior Pix Autographs (/6,500)
The Price:
$4.45
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Draft pick autos from this era really got me going back then with them showing up in every pack for not much more than this card cost me today from a few companies. This former Colorado star was relatively successful in the NFL for some time, too, so he's one of the better options in this set and the price here was low. I was more of a Signature Rookies guy then -- this brand came and went faster -- so that's another reason you see this here.

THAT OTHER TEAM
The Card:
Roger Maris 2007 Topps Sterling (/250)
The Price:
$2.35
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I didn't notice that top left edge issue when I grabbed this card, but it was pretty clean otherwise and something about Maris in his final uniform always stands out for me a little more than others. These base cards used to be seemingly more plentiful in my mind -- still might be in reality -- but the way these were released is a little odd. Each five-card premium box of Sterling was player specific with the hit also attached to the player along with a mystery pack that could be anybody. Basic cards are cheap but the parallels of lower volume (different colors of matte frames on the fronts) aren't ... and the hits really aren't. Since all Maris cards were in Maris packs that kind of limits how cards can get out into peoples' hands vs. if every pack had a mix of names.
