Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.

So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ...

WELCOME TO THE COLLECTION
The Item: Slash autographed Four (2022) CD cover (PSA/DNA authenticated)
The Price: Less than a jumbo box of flagship cards ...
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is one of my recent additions in the rock autograph realm as, well, that genre can be quite pricey -- too pricey, really -- but the cost was decent here for an autograph of the iconic Guns N' Roses guitarist who's stayed busy with many a project since that band disbanded and then reloaded in recent years. While I'd prefer a signed item showing him -- I have to flip this one over to see an image -- this PSA-slabbed CD cover that was likely among those sold via Newbury Comics back in the day worked for me. It was probably $100 less than it could be at times for a similar slabbed/third-party authenticated item. Meanwhile, it was probably about $50 more than the same thing but without third-party authentication and encapsulation. A signed and authenticated photo can end up around $500 if it looks good (sometimes more, sometimes less) while signed items can soar even higher. Why? Access -- Slash isn't exactly doing signings or conventions -- so the few times he's signed for his own album releases like this in more volume they get gobbled up and become ultimately the entry point (or only addition) for many. Count me right there. I wanted to add Slash to my stash ... but not break the bank.

PERHAPS MY FINALE FOR HIM?
The Card:
Chris Boucher 2021-22 Panini Crown Royale Knights of the Round Table Jersey Autos Prime (/10)
The Price:
About $18
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This player has school ties for me -- the second-best player to come from a small school -- but with that "minimalist" autograph I'm just not going to chase anything inked very hard even though there's a ton to chase for him or anybody else in the league right now. I've picked off some ink, inserts and parallels and then a Rookie Card or two (I think ... his RC tale is an odd one I have written about a few times here). More recently, I added a patch but I hadn't found an auto-patch card until this one arrived on the cheap for a relatively low-volume card. It was an easy grab ... and it could be a stopping point for me unless some cards strike me as nice for the price. (Once he's done playing, he might be more affordable, too. I'm patient.)

DAWSON'S GPK
The Cards: Bouncy Becky (Rosario Dawson) 2023 Topps Garbage Pail Kids x View Askew Blue (/50) & Yellow (/100)
The Price: Both for less than a box of this one
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This set is one that, in a past life, I would have ripped into boxes of it more than a few times to collect it all. But in the here and now and with the only draw in packs being parallels like these ... well, I opted to just grab two for one of my favorite takes on the stars from past Kevin Smith movies. In this case, it's an ode to Becky dancing on the roof of a Mooby's restaurant from Clerks II. I'll track down others or buy a set built by somebody else at some point ... or wait for some slasher sales on boxes.

THE BRYCE IS RIGHT
The Cards:
Bryce Young 2023 Panini Chronicles Draft Picks Classics Premium Edition (2) and Chronicles Draft Zenith & 2022 Skybox Metal Universe Champions Looking to the Future
The Price:
About $6 ... and that's likely high vs. prices now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This small group of draft picks cards, based on that price, is probably from earlier last year but I let them sit in my account for a while before getting them in-hand. Why? Well, that rookie year didn't go as well as others (who were paying a lot more than me for other stuff) probably expected ... and so I let them sit, too, figuring that he probably wouldn't command a bunch of interest here, either. I grabbed these for my school ties part of my collection in part to just see some of the stuff I wasn't chasing in packs and to see how they might look for grading. I like the simplicity of the Zenith card here the best.

DOGPOOL DID IT AGAIN
The Book:
Deadpool Corps No. 3
The Price:
$14
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Last time, I trotted out the first appearance of Dogpool and I noted how the upcoming movie teasers that have shown this character might spark interest in some books. My gut says yes but we'll see ... depends on the moments. This cover caught my attention as it's just a better visual for Dogpool than his debut -- and it was priced higher, too. That might be in part since it was crafted by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld. I liked it ... so I bit. (Pun intended.)

TWO OF A KIND
The Cards:
Bo Bichette 2021 Topps Rip Mini Green (/15) & 2022 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome Mini
The Price:
About $7 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I've said it many times before but here goes (again) ... I'm a sucker for minis and these struck me as interesting for different reasons. (My lousy photos are from them being photographed at different times.) The Rip card was really underpriced for that low volume (I guess it wasn't valued by the owner since it wasn't a RC) and then the Chrome just a brand that don't think I've ripped a single pack of beyond a single box early on ... instead I just grabbed some singles here and there.

THROWBACK MOVIE STILLS
The Items:
Pulp Fiction, Untamed Heart, Chasing Amy 8-by-10 press kit photos featuring Uma Thurman, Rosie Perez, Christian Slater, Marissa Tomei and Joey Lauren Adams
The Price:
About $16 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This trio of stills are for a pair of movies I'm very familiar with and then one that I don't think I've seen but has three cast members who are well-known elsewhere. For the price and their conditions (minty fresh save for a small discoloring for one on its bottom border that I missed) these were easy additions. The Pulp and Amy images are also from their posters, so that added to my interest there.

SO CLOSE ... SO FAR AWAY
The Cards:
Ja'Corey Brooks 2022 Leaf Exotic Giraffe parallel printing plates -- Cyan, Yellow & Black all (1/1)
The Price:
About $9 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This trio of matching plates was too cheap to pass up for a player with school ties for me. They're cheaper since there are a bunch of textures used in the Exotic set ... so that can mean a lot of plates that seem similar but have different background textures. Now, where might the Magenta plate be? The only drawback here for me is that he transferred out ... so he might not have a lot of other stuff in familiar school colors later.

GET THE TABLE!
The Card:
Red Velvet & Jade Cargill 2021 UD AEW Spectrum Table for 2 Relics
The Price:
About $21 ... I must have felt rich that day as that seems high.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Cargill's stock is way up as she's in WWE right now and already has held a belt -- and that's partly why I sprung for this card that has a piece of a match-used table embedded into it. I also liked the texture on that wood as there's a lot going on there. Prices on these cards are a bit all over the place but there are some good names and good looks on a number of cards. I'll probably watch and then grab some others from this one. Why? It's also a brand with a lot to chase but the typical box yields just don't feel that strong at all for the price. It's likely singles-only for me.

KROSS HIM OFF THEN
The Card:
Karrion Kross 2021 Topps WWE Undisputed Superstar Roster Autographs (/199)
The Price:
$5
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This price was good for an on-card numbered auto from a release that typically grades well so I bit. Kross' WWE run so far has had some strong showings but things seem to be in a building-back stage now ... but at this price it was an easy addition and one that allowed me to cross him off from the "need-ink" list. (I try to find one of most active names.)

SO NICE I BOUGHT IT TWICE
The Cards:
Nick Swisher 2013 Topps Heritage Venezuelan back parallels
The Price:
About $10 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This parallel is one of the rarer ones for a few years in Heritage -- not super-scarce but if you consider every card in the 500-card set got one that means a lot of packs to find any single player atop the one-in-47 start to find these cards. I decided I I'd grab both when these hit for basically $5 apiece. Why? My player ... and there's been nothing new for years now.

BATMAN & MORE
The Cards:
Drew Barrymore 1999 Nickelodeon Magazine Kids' Choice Awards, 1995 Fleer Ultra Batman Forever Animaction and holograms with Tommy Lee Jones and Debi Mazar
The Price:
About $15 total
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
The Nick card is an oddball, while the others are inserts from readily available releases where condition is more of an issue than anything. The chrome-stock Animaction cards can be found Hulking (turning green as one of the inner ink layers is aging poorly), while the holograms are soft-stock cards that can have edge and corner issues ... if you find them without scratches. Ideally, I'd like to land all of the "Sugar" holograms and cards like this in slabs but it's not a high-priority project for me as I collect and grade in lots of directions.

MORE PLAYING CARDS
The Card:
Sadaharu Oh 1960s Meiji Sadaharu Oh Playing Cards Blue (six of clubs)
The Price:
Less than $3
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This playing card has a good vintage feel to it without having a whole lot of vintage wear beyond that left bottom edge. This price for an in-career card of Japan's iconic slugger was a no-brainer ... even if it's a playing card.

EVEN MORE PLAYING CARDS
The Cards:
Sin City 2005 NECA playing card decks (two per tin) -- face-card appearances by Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Nick Stahl & Mickey Rourke
The Price:
$7
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Speaking of playing cards ... this minor meandering kick of mine got me to bite here as these tins that have two sealed decks inside are super cheap. In fact, you can probably find them cheaper than this example as I wanted a fully sealed tin as I have an eye on perhaps grading a run of either one name or a full suit for the characters seen here. Why? Just something oddball in the stash. This franchise has cards more related to the comics and there was a lot of merch for films ... but a trading card set wasn't ultimately a thing in terms of a full, in-pack release.

POSTER IN A PACK
The Card:
Seattle SuperSonics 1980-81 Topps Team Pin-Ups
The Price:
Less than $4
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This throwback is a poster that's the size of four cards -- they were found folded and put into packs -- and each NBA team has a group shot. One of the names here falls into my school ties part of my collection (you know the name if a regular reader) so I grabbed it. The cutting and the folding of the paper here can be quite iffy -- and a lot of them are discolored as the paper is, well, old paper now, but you can find some good names in the set among the team shots.

OH, BROTHER, BROTHER, BROTHER ...
The Mags:
Hulk Hogan -- 1984/1985 Wrestling All-Stars magazines along with Cyndi Lauper, Lou Albano & Joan Rivers
The Price:
$9.99 apiece
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This run of Hogan mags happened since a dealer I buy stuff from often had an absolute boatload of past stuff all up for grabs basically all at the same time. The issue in the middle got me first as that's him with the old WWF belt from when he first won the title, while the other two are newer -- check out the shirt -- with celebs who have their place or ties to WWE as things went far more mainstream for wrestling in that time. For the prices, these were easy pick-ups as they are very clean -- not always the case with some titles that used cheaper paper and got read or had their posters ripped out to be put on young fans' walls.

REMEMBER ALL THESE SETS?
The Card:
Kelly Clarkson 2009 UD American Idol Season 8
The Price:
$2.75
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This isn't from early in the Idol run on cardboard -- it's actually from one of the latter sets flashing back to the beginning. Fleer had a couple of releases with autos and memorabilia as well as a bunch of inserts to chase early on for the hit series, while Comic Images and then Upper Deck took things over later. A lot of names that people might remember -- good or bad -- just might have cards here. Novelty slabs? For me, maybe, though the show is not a high-priority niche as I never watched a minute. There are a lot of names to be found here, though.

SO NICE I BOUGHT IT TWICE TWICE
The Cards:
Nick Swisher 2002 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks Refractors (/300) -- Rookie Card parallel
The Price:
$19.99 apiece
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This pair of pick-ups came as, well, this is a pretty rare parallel of his RC from two decades ago and as my PC player there's not much new ... so when stuff like this pops up I pretty much have to bite. I'm not sure how many I have, but it's a decent number and I should really dig them all out and consider slabbing, too, since this and his standard Bowman are his only RCs.

INDY SPECULATING
The Cards:
Ava Lawless, Taylor Rising, Zoe Sager 2022 Nation Extreme Wrestling
The Price:
$4 apiece
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This is a trio of indy cards I picked up in the past just because they were just that -- low-volume, somewhat obscure indy cardboard where you might not find 'em again if you pass. I'll admit I didn't know much about any of them, but I scouted the social channels of a number of names in that set and then narrowed it down to these three based on what they had going on and then their follower counts and so on. Why? Just in case there was more to come later. Since this buy, Lawless has shown up in AEW and Ring of Honor, Rising has recently popped up in AEW matches as well as in the NWA. Sager also had a single AEW match per one database site ... so it's a start.

A THROWBACK
The Card:
1982 Donruss M*A*S*H (Maj. Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan, Col. Sherman T. Potter & Father Francis Mulcahy and others)
The Price:
Pocket change
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This card from an old set for a TV show -- kids, that stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital -- that was a comedy detailing the ins and outs and the ups and downs for a crew during the Korean War. It was a franchise that started as a book and a film and then was a long-running show that lasted for more than a decade. Its final episode was the most-watched show in TV history in 1983 and it's apparently only been topped by one Super Bowl since. Now, why did I grab this one? It was probably because unlike a lot of cards from this manufacturer back then this was quite clean and not bad centering-wise while showing three of the main characters all at once. Would I slab it? Yes, but it's got a boatload of stuff in line ahead of it.

MODERN-DAY RETRO
The Item:
Catch Me If You Can (2002) press kit (booklet and photo CD) with appearances by Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner among others
The Price:
$5 in a lot
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
Just like last time, this one came from a small lot of kits but it's not quite as interesting (to me at least) as others as it's a modern creation that puts all of the photos for media onto a CD-ROM ... but, as a trade-off, the notes are in bound book form like a small magazine. I picked up this movie on DVD all those years ago and probably haven't watched it since -- I sure didn't remember Adams or Garner in there -- but the booklet is meaty with some good portraits for a cast that's packed and a tale that's outrageous and supposedly based on a real story. As part of a lot, I didn't mind this for the price but I guess I'm more of a photograph collector.

UNUSUAL VS. THE REST?
The Mag:
Daryl Hannah in The Clan of the Cave Bear -- Heavy Metal, Winter 1986
The Price:
$9.99
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This magazine-format comic ran for more than 45 years and often included dark, ornate and unusual science fiction content that introduced new artists, sometimes-violent scenes and more that it could include since it wasn't part of the typical comic channels and subject to that realm's self-governing body, the Comics Code Authority. While a lot of Heavy Metal covers have ornate cover creations (think Conan sometimes meets space aliens sometimes meets futuristic glamour pinups, robots or creatures ... sometimes with edgy or controversial twists) it was often a showcase for artists such as Moebius, Frank Frazetta, Joe Jusko, Nicollet, Barry Windsor-Smith, H.R. Giger and Esteban Maroto among others. This cover, though, is distinctly different in that it's an image from a film and it doesn't seem to be heavily represented inside (that I could figure on a quick flip-though at least). That's Darryl Hannah from the movie The Clan Of The Cave Bear -- and that's its poster image. That tale is one set in pre-historic times has a Cro-Magnon (Hannah) orphaned and joining a group of Neanderthals (trailer here) ... it was a box-office bomb despite apparently being a popular book in a popular series. The visual is striking and this black-bordered issue was remarkably clean so I bit when it popped up from a dealer of everything where I dabble often. It's got a lower-priority chance at slabbing just for the heck of it -- but it's that clean. Part of me thinks this cover might have been a Plan B for something that fell though, too, it's just odd compared to everything else for this title.

BAMA BALL
The Cards:
Mikey White, Cale Iorg, Morgan McCullough & Paul Phillips assorted autograph, memorabilia or numbered Rookie Cards from Elite Extra Edition, USA Baseball & Fleer Showcase
The Price:
About $11 total ($7 for the two USAs)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This small lot is one simply for my school ties part of my stash -- this time Alabama Crimson Tide baseball guys who got MiLB or MLB time along with some USA presence ... all of which led to cards. Generally, this was me just picking off lower-numbered stuff on the cheap while McCullough was a newer name to me, so I picked off an auto and a patch and called it good. I try to pick off an auto or mem for names if they have them and then a basic card or two if they don't.

INTERNATIONAL LOBBY CARDS!
The Item:
Claudia Cardinale Once Upon a Time in the West (1969) French lobby card
The Price:
About $25 shipped (internationally)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This pickup came from an international dealer of vintage lobby cards and posters and I just liked the look of the piece for a name I lightly collect here and there ... and somehow I didn't notice the pinholes in a scan. (If they showed. That might not be a dealer thing ... it could be a rookie dabbler in this realm.) A lot of older stuff can be found easily and cheaply -- some better condition than others -- but if you have a name, a film or a genre there's a lot to explore from basically the late-1990s on back. A lot of the bigger films' international versions of posters or lobby cards may not be always as popular as those showing the familiar titles but that adds to some of the appeal here to me.

PREMIUM-BRAND RELICS
The Card:
Nick Swisher 2012 Topps Tribute Championship Material (/99)
The Price:
About $7
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This encased and lower-volume Relic comes from my player's pricier Yankees years, but over time those high prices have faded (thankfully) while this release was one with a lot of parallels given its price. In this case, it's the easiest of six cards and I don't think I chased more than one or two of them back in the day ... they cost a lot more then than this one did.

A RARITY AND A LOTTA INK
The Cards:
Savannah 2010 Florida Championship Wrestling card + assorted Angela Fong Bench Warmer autographs
The Price:
About $45 since there's some volume in the ink here (around $1-2 apiece on average)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I've briefly written about this former WWE personality here before and how on cardboard she's a bit of an enigma mostly just due to timing. The FCW card is her only wrestling card -- despite being the women's champ (aka Queen of FCW) known as "Miss Angela" at that time -- and it's not an easy one to find, either. (I'd like to upgrade to one slab-worthy). After that, her only other WWE cardboard was in a gaming set from when she was a ring announcer. Meanwhile, she's regularly appeared on BenchWarmer cards for years since to the point where you can find ink for $1 or less ... and that's led me to some old-fashioned lot-buying just for fun to amass some volume in a collection. Why? Just to collect some names for the heck of it. There are boatloads of parallels and re-stamped cards in that realm, too, but I tend to just dabble with the basic ones.

ODDBALL & PARALLEL POWER
The Cards:
Assorted oddball or parallel cards for WWE/TNA stars Santos Escobar, Joseph Park (aka Abyss), Samoa Joe, Blair Davenport, Xia Li, Stacy Keibler and Maryse
The Price:
About $14 total ... which is low considering the lower-volume parallels here
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This is even more low-priced dabbling for WWE cards with some rarer-volume parallels, parallels for relative newcomers or some oddball items for more-familiar, older names. I tend to collect a lot of current names on the women's side since I opened boatloads of packs -- back when WWE boxes were cheap -- and then having that volume of stuff I add to it for names I like. (You know, collecting.)

REMEMBER ME?
The Card:
Eddie Gaedel (1951 bat) 2018 Heritage Auctions Advertisement Cards
The Price:
$3
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This promo card was to showcase a piece that Heritage sold, and when I noticed it was one of few Gaedel cards ever made I added it to my stash ... just because I thought it was interesting. I wrote about Gaedel in a past Buzz Buys so search the archives for more there. The item is bat he used for his appearance and it sold for $45,600 in 2017 ... a little piece of MLB history that was saved by his family after his debut moment. (Read more about that here.)

MUSIC, MAXIM & MORE
The Mags:
Pink, Christina Aguilera, Carmen Electra & Pamela Anderson cover appearances on Blender, Maxim & Stuff
The Price:
About $50 in a couple of lots
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
The Pink cover of Maxim's past music magazine, Blender, was a solo buy as I thought it might make for a nice slab, while the other three were picked up together with the same thought for at least two of them. Why? All four are 1990s and beyond icons in pop culture to varying degrees. The Pink issue is probably most likely to be slabbed of the bunch here ... for my music stash. Blender died in 2009 for print, while Stuff's American title died in 2007 ... but it lives on in the UK with more of a tech than entertainment twist. Maxim has had meandering ownership and focus, so that mag still exists within the floundering publishing landscape in the U.S. The quick-read hits on music, movies, TV, tech and more -- issues that could pack hundreds of nuggets to read inside -- used to be everywhere and are essentially gone now. That's a reason old music and entertainment magazines are prime slabbing suspects in my mind.

COLORFUL LAZER
The Card:
Shaun Alexander 2023 Panini Select Draft Picks Concourse Red Lazer Prizm
The Price:
$1
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This card actually popped up last time here but in a different color ... but this hue is a little more apropos for a Crimson Tide legend. I really like the dazzling look of these parallels, and I also like seeing this photo as it was from my time there and is memorably used on some stuff I have collected in the past.

GET THE TABLE, GET THE 'GRAPHS
The Mag:
D-Von Dudley & Buh-Buh Ray Dudley autographed July 2000 WWF Raw Magazine -- first WWE cover appearance
The Price:
$9.99
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This dual-signed mag was an easy pick-up as it's the Hall of Fame team's first cover appearance on a WWE publication and the autos are pretty big here, too, though they blend in some with black ink on black ink. The actual condition wasn't as strong as I had hoped -- the only drawback here -- but if it can be pressed without ink loss it would be a nice item to sub to CGC with a JSA notation once they start doing more of that. (I'm actually not sure if signed stuff can be pressed after-the-fact or not.)
