The biggest weekend in pro wrestling is here with WrestleMania 39 set for this Saturday and Sunday from Los Angeles. We'll make today a big one for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania6, a marathon of WWE wax box/pack breaks all day long.
This is our fifth break for today ... a showdown between one I loved at retail and one I wanted to love -- but it had some issues with me. Will that continue today?
Battle of The Brands: 2022 Panini Select WWE vs. 2022 Panini Chronicles WWE (one Select blaster vs. two Chronicles boxes ... what?!?)

The Hits (Autographs/Memorabilia/Manufactured Relics) Breakdown: 1
Panini Select (1) – Julius Creed Signature Selections Flash Prizms
Panini Chronicles – None
--
My Take Before I Broke This: I was a big fan of Select retail -- it was pricer but it delivered for me more than a few times with both rarities as well as autographs and numbered cards -- and Chronicles should be a favorite, too, but it was full of condition and collation issues for me to the point where it should have been a favorite but turned into one that, well, made me mad. So, as the "promotor" here, I chose to have the two battle it out and see what happens ... even if it's a two on one.
--
Who Won The Battle? Tough call here as Select shouldn't be a contender given how Chronicles is set up -- a ton of variety here and a ton of fun but still flaws with dented card backs (even here ... but not as heavily) but with longer odds on hits and numbered cards ... in fact I've still found nothing in a retail box on either of those fronts. Meanwhile, this Select box was tight and it delivered ink, which is not common in the brand -- yet I've done it several times. This is a battle of flash vs. a battle of substance and variety for a collector. And two on one? That should be a mismatch here, especially the way Chronicles is built -- Chronicles should win easily -- but ... The Winner: Select because of the hit, though Chronicles looked better here vs. past breaks I've done.
--
The Top Rookie: I landed a number of the key rookies in this one (in both brands) but none really in better spots -- but a Roxanne Perez Bronze here (RC parallel) isn't bad ... not big money but better to find it than not.
--
Card That Stole The Show: Creed isn't yet a big, big name but ink is good and I think he's got some good potential.
--
Break Grade: A ... If you ignore dented card back issues (they are there, eliminating some cards as grading contenders) this overall was a good break for the suggested retail price.
Fun Grade: A+ ... These two releases are the best of both worlds -- chase and flash as well as collecting variety. It's just a matter of what you like.
--
The Bottom Line: Yes, they are blasters but there was a lot here for the price.
