BuzzMania 7: Shredding A Full 2023 Prizm WWE Case (Hour 8)

The biggest weekend in pro wrestling is here with WrestleMania 40 set for this Saturday and Sunday from Philadelphia. We'll make today a big one for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania7, a marathon of WWE wax box/pack breaks all day long.

This one was a pick-up at a slasher price back on Black Friday -- a jaw-dropper price where I absolutely had to dabble -- and yet my first impression of ripping this one back then wasn't a good one ... so I let it sit. Now, a few months later? We'll see how the results look ...

My Take Before I Broke This: I hadn't ever opened a full case of anything for Prizm in any format or sport, so finding this at a slasher price made it a no-brainer with this one having perhaps a better autograph lineup than its 2022 counterpart, though the debut is jam-packed with way more Rookie Card power.

Who Won The Battle? I don't think I did ... this was one of the absolute roughest cases I have ever opened -- in any sport. And, regrettably, it's also easily among the most-underwhelming WWE cases I've ever opened and I've opened many. Had I paid the SRP here? Woof. Even with a slasher price this one stung -- even with a boatload of parallels (the Ice Prizms had a boatload of duplicates ... even some triples) this one wasn't fun at all. Maybe, with that repetitive mix it was just a bad case -- no idea -- but I'm not sure I'd do another unless it was $10 or less per box after this one. Perhaps some of this feel was due to high expectations, too. One auto of a young, cheap guy was as underwhelming as it gets, while my two numbered parallels at least brought some names that might be popular ... I was so underwhelmed I didn't even look back when I ripped this and I still haven't after sorting this. Even rougher, I didn't even land a base set with a boatload of dupes and a heavy number of triples, too.

The Top Rookies: There aren't many here and I didn't really land any of them in any meaningful volume for the color, either, so I'll just go with the Sol Ruca base RC. Had her or other rookies shown up in key parallel spots? I might like this case a little more -- there's some longshot potential here with the numbered RCs and better names on ink. But, if cases are consistently lean like this one was? Woof.

Card That Stole The Show: It's not much of a steal ... but I'll go with the Roxanne Perez (/25) parallel -- it looks like it could have paid for a fraction of the case but I'm not sure she's as in-demand as it would have been in 2022 when she was a rookie but didn't have a Prizm card.

Case Grade: B- ... If the ink and numbered cards flowed just a little better and the collation was cleaner I think these would be safe at a discount price. Otherwise, these are really just the home of a boatload of base and a couple of parallel colors. At same time, one big name in a key spot could make these a big win, too.
Fun Grade: C+ ... Same as above. If you consider the SRP here, this was far rougher than a C+ in my book.

The Bottom Line: Buy hobby boxes or even the other premium formats of this one until they're gone -- you'll get ink guaranteed every time and some color, too. Blasters simply run waaay too lean if this case is the norm. The Under Card box is a strong option on the cheaper side of things at the link above ... that's the one I should have done.
