The biggest weekend in pro wrestling is here with WrestleMania 40 set for this Saturday and Sunday from Philadelphia. We'll make today a big one for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania7, a marathon of WWE wax box/pack breaks all day long.

This is a variety-packed case that truly delivers that with some volume but it's also one that wasn't without some flaws at times with some card surface funk and wonky collation -- we'll see if that strikes again here -- but it's a fun one to rip if you ask me ... no matter what.

The Brand: 2022 Panini Chronicles WWE (20-box blaster case)

Where to buy: BlowoutCards.com

What's inside this one? Keep reading ...

My Take Before I Broke This: I have a love-hate relationship with this one -- love the variety overall here but hated the hobby collation and a lot of the odd damage that is found on some cards in this release, particularly some of the subsets (Rookies & Stars for example) having odd heavy surface dents into the card backs. It's like those sheets were laid upon gravel before printing and got dented up. Overall, though, the rookie crop here is nice and there are some retail-only colors here as well as hits ... but ink was really elusive for me in all of my loose-box breaks of this one. (I ripped a bunch ... barely landed any numbered cards, let alone autos.) There's a ton to find here and the hobby boxes never really have dipped in price as they have guarantees despite being smaller boxes -- that makes these an interesting option and I found this one at a good price around Black Friday.

Who Won The Battle? Tough call ... the collation was definitely weird here with just one base set of 100 Chronicles subset cards -- and as many as five copies of some cards -- while other subsets also went wonky with the same names dropping several times over and then dropping as parallels, too. Meanwhile, one Certified rookie I'd want to see I didn't land at all ... and I suspect that one was not alone if I were to compare my finds to a master checklist. The volume and variety here was thick but I don't think I landed anything big at all -- on any front. There's still lots of potential, though -- and I would rip again if the price was right -- because I suspect some of that erratic flow might run hotter than it did here and that might be really fun.

--

The Top Rookies: The newcomer crop here hits home quite well with the Donruss, Rookies & Stars and Certified sets all having some nice RCs, though dollars-wise they don't really jump out from the pack unless you land a rarer parallel ... that's more easily done in hobby boxes as there are some nice rarer chases and good names there, too. And those three subsets I mentioned here aren't alone with RCs. I'll go with my trio of Tiffany Stratton RCs as a highlight this time but I would have liked to have landed her in Certified ... and got skunked.

--

Card That Stole The Show: Honestly, there were no big show-stopper cards here for any one pull but some of the rookie volume was good for some rising names here. As a related default, I'll just say I like this Green parallel of a Bron Breakker Black RC ... but it's not that big of a deal.

Case Grade: A- ... Awesome variety, good volume, funky collation that ran hot/cold ... but nothing truly big, though at least I landed this case at a lower price than the original SRP. All that kept my grades here respectable. (At full SRP? This is probably a B.)
Fun Grade: B+ ... See above ... had this one included one bigger name on a numbered parallel or hit, it'd be an A. The overall volume made this rip fun but I'm not sure it was a winner if I was doing the ol' rip-and-flip game.

--

The Bottom Line: This one didn't disappoint, though it didn't overwhelm, either. I landed more autos than I had expected to after opening the Prizm case that had only one auto but none of the ink here was a payday (though two are Hall of Famers). I think this one has good potential ... and I'll do more if prices ever dip again. This is one for a collector for sure -- hit hobby boxes at link up top if you really dig it. I'll perhaps dig in there if those ever dip, too.
