BuzzMania4: Busting 2020 Topps WWE Fully Loaded (Hour 3)

The biggest weekend in pro wrestling is here with WrestleMania 37 set for Saturday and Sunday from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. We'll make today a big day for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania4, a series of WWE wax box/pack breaks.

This is Hour 3 ... a high-end, one-card box break that's over faster than Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus at Wrestlemania 28.

Card That Stole The Show: Well ... um ... this one. (I really should have done two of these boxes.)

What's Buzz-worthy: I initially wasn't going to do one of these boxes in this year's Mania, but it's perhaps a landmark brand in that it's the first time that Topps has done an encased one-card-per-box release for WWE ... and I think it's got a lot of highlight-worthy cards. But perhaps not this time. I landed a solid name but perhaps not a guy who's a money-maker on cardboard -- and that's why you should play it safe and pick up a box or two or three here. (I pre-ordered a case when this one arrived so I was sold from the opening bell.) The key on this release is to not pay too much for these boxes as there are signers like Styles who won't make your box a money-maker unless you land a rare parallel -- so to dilute the burn grab a few. This was a basic ladder Relic, which is cool because it's the first time Topps has done ladder cards -- I think they are the first ladders for WWE sets in general -- but just not pricey right now. These are posted on the odds at one in 15 -- so basically one per case -- but with parallels they'll be found more often than that but perhaps not as often as other types of Relics in this (tables, chairs, turnbuckle pads, microphone boxes, kiss cards, ring-worn gear). Box prices have been pretty much well above the suggested retail price since arrival day because there's some really good stuff possible here ... from Vince McMahon autographs to rare kiss cards and even rarer microphone box Relics and then ink from relative cardboard newcomers like Tegan Nox, Rhea Ripley, Angel Garza and Austin Theory. However, it's mostly a lineup of right-down-the-middle veteran autos with a good volume on both men's and women's sides ... so some will pay for a box and some will not -- but there's a lot of parallel color here to help. Over time, this lineup could get stronger, too. This time? A solid veteran but not the flashiest card. Generally speaking, this one has done very well for me -- fare more than it has missed -- and it's a great start for a brand I hope we see more of in the coming months/years. For more thoughts and visuals on this one, check out half of my case here and then check out the rest of that case here.

Box Grade: B- (I avoided some of lesser names -- and higher-value names -- this time.)
Fun Grade: B (I feel like there should be some kind of base card set popped into these boxes.)
