Buzz's BlowoutTV Breakdown: 2019 Topps Chrome Sapphire

Group breaks have been a game-changer for the card industry for several years now and from time to time Buzz will jump into a BlowoutTV break of some type and break down the results of what he landed by picking up a team. There are near-daily breaks right here with Matt on Blowout TV during weekday working hours and even more from Houdini and others over on the forum in the evening.

Now, it's time for this post's break breakdown -- a spot in a 2019 Topps Chrome Sapphire break.

Initial Reaction: This one is high-risk but high-reward as it's a hot premium brand. Fortunately the Random Gods let me land a key team for this one if you consider the rookies and autographs (all autos are rookies). A basic RC of Eloy Jimenez here would pay for a few spots and color or ink would have paid for a bunch. How did I do? Keep reading ...

Final Thoughts: Well, I didn't land the big one but I had my shot and I technically did better than I should have as there were just 64 cards in the break and 30 spots. Money-wise, this one wasn't a win -- at least right now -- as even my parallel isn't a big pull (and probably won't be unless 20-some other people suddenly will pay anything to build a set or a team set). These boxes aren't cheap and we're presently buying them for more than $300 (latest price here) and that also could help values on parallels and ink over time ... there just are so many boxes to go around and so many of them have been demolished. I typically only do safe breaks where a decent volume of something is generally statistically a given and this was a riskier one but it also had more potential than others out there. I could have easily landed nothing while two base cards might statistically be the norm here at best. Would I do it again? Maybe at this price -- but I don't think that'll happen given the overall demand for this release and all of its key rookies.
