Buzz's BlowoutTV Breakdown: A win from a Topps MLB mixer

Group breaks have been a game-changer for the card industry for several years now and from time to time Buzz will jump into a BlowoutTV break of some type and break down the results of what he landed by picking up a team. There are near-daily breaks right here with Matt on Blowout TV during weekday working hours and even more from Houdini and others over on the forum in the evening.

Now, it's time for this post's break breakdown -- a spot in an MLB mixer that included everything you see above.

Initial Reaction: I was initially a bit bummed landing the Orioles but one name made this a team with big potential on the prospect side.

Final Thoughts: I don't normally do breaks where it's not a larger volume of stuff or a scenario where the hit volume is enough where the average break gets a hit, but the price of this break vs. the price of the boxes that were in it got me to bite. One name makes this break and that's Adley Rutschman who was the No. 1 pick in last year's MLB Draft. He was the Golden Spikes Award winner last year for the best amateur player in baseball and signed a record $8.1 million signing bonus ... so he's on prospector radars. The Bowman card is his first and it covers the cost of the break along with a decent up-side if I wait it out or slab. The two 1st Edition cards are also popular but not as pricey as it's not a first-year prospect card. Over time, these could end up being popular cards, too, given the slightly more limited nature of that release. The rest of the break actually delivered more than might be the norm but none of them are really of note to collectors right now, though the Mullins RC has sold for $5 on eBay, too. All in all, I think I got lucky here -- I could have easily not ended up with much. Meanwhile, somebody who did this break ended up with a Chipper Jones autographed RC reprint out of the Clearly Authentic box. Wall of wax breaks like this are fun ones if you can find mixers in your budget range. This one was a decent fit for me and it worked ... this time.
