Buzz's Pick Six: 2018-19 Panini Prizm basketball cards

Have you seen the latest cool cards from a popular release? With so many options for collectors of all kinds arriving every week it's possible you haven't. That's where Buzz comes in -- well at least on one brand you'll see here from time to time in what we're calling Buzz's Pick Six. Simply put, here are six cards from a new arrival that seemed interesting to this collector and we think they might interest you, too.

THE KING OF BLASTERS
The Card: Luka Doncic Green Pulsar parallel (/25) BGS 10
The Price: $15,999 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There's no doubt that it's this rookie who is the cream of the crop right now when it comes to Prizm Rookie Cards, but this one is here for you to consider one simple fact about tis pricey piece of cardboard. It came from a blaster. Now, if it could sell for that price, it's even more impressive ... but it's still a solid card. Only 24 others exist and only five others have been slabbed. This is the only 10 -- and there are only 21 other 10s for any Doncic Prizm card to get that grade. Fun fact: His Silvers have been slabbed 421 times and 216 of those have gotten a BGS 9.5. Just two got 10s. Meanwhile, his base RC has only been slabbed 301 times and there are six 10s ... more 10s than any other card.

THE OTHER HALF OF THE TRADE ...
The Card: Trae Young Silver Prizm parallel 
The Price: $150 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Silver Prizms aren't numbered but they aren't the easiest pulls, either, especially if you're looking for one particular rookie or star. One other notable rookie this year is this former Oklahoma star who was traded for Doncic before they donned their NBA uniforms for the first time. This particular price might be a tad high -- you can find BGS 9.5s for not a ton more -- but he's an example of how there's demand for simplicity and quality rookies in this brand. Young is averaging 16.5 points, 7.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds a game for a team that's in need of a name player when it comes to cardboard. He just might be it.

TOP PICK DELIVERING
The Card: DeAndre Ayton Red Prizm parallell (/299)
The Price: $99.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The No. 1 overall pick might be getting a lot more looks if it wasn't for that Maverick we saw earlier. Through 47 games he averaged 16.4 points per game -- third-best in the league for rookies behind the two guys you have already seen here -- and he's by far the top rebounder among all newcomers at 10.6 per game. The next-best rookie only grabs 'em at 7.0 a game. I'm a big believer in being selective with certain colors of parallels -- I'd put a premium on ones that don't clash with team colors given the rainbow of options we have today -- and this is one that simply looks very solid to me. (The strong photo doesn't hurt, either, as sometimes posed shots just don't work well.)

LIFE AFTER LEBRON
The Card: Collin Sexton Silver Prizm autograph 
The Price: $49.99 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Life as a Cleveland Cavs collector might be pretty rough now -- at least compared to the last few years -- as we all know who left. One of the newcomers here has played pretty well as this former Alabama standout is fourth among all NBA rookies through Jan. 31 with 14.3 ppg and he's fifth in assists at 2.8. I'm not sure who else left on the roster might be a good draw on cardboard, so he's almost here by default. I haven't really studied the prices on these rookies, but this one seems very affordable compared to others out there.

THE DOCTOR IS IN
The Card: Julius Erving Silver Prizm autograph 
The Price: $54.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: If you don't land rookie ink, there's a decent shot at some Hall of Famer autograph action in this brand. One example? "Dr. J" -- and because people are busy chasing newcomers they might overlook the big ink they pull from non-rookies. This one isn't his cheapest auto out there from this brand but it's a solid one -- and there are parallels that can help the cashflow with these guys, too. This card is a solid pull of an all-time great.

SLICING UP SETS?
The Item: Red-White-Blue Prizm parallel set (300 cards)
The Price: $349.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This seller ripped into plenty of retail packs (at least 100 if there was perfect collation) to build this parallel set, and, simply put, buying a set to land what you want could be a way to go here if you're not chasing the big stuff or wanting to rip wax. Why? For now, sets will be affordable thanks to this brand's popularity and availability. Over time, especially if the rookies here continue to deliver well, the wax will start to dry up and people building and selling sets like this will, too. The only drawback might be cherry-pickling for condition of cards (if you're grading), so make sure you're buying from somebody who appears to have a good track record. (Missing cards in sets are big bummers so make sure you check them, too.) There were a few types of sets up for grabs when I looked, some a lot cheaper than this one. It's an interesting thought long-term for popular brands like this one, too.
