Buzz's Pick Six: 2019 Panini Contenders Draft & Prizm Draft

Have you seen the latest cool cards from a new release? With so many options for collectors of all kinds arriving every week it's possible you haven't. That's where Buzz comes in -- well at least on one brand you'll see here from time to time in what we're calling Buzz's Pick Six. Simply put, here are six cards from a new arrival that seemed interesting to this collector and we think they might interest you, too.

This week's releases: 2019 Panini Contenders Draft Picks and 2019 Panini Prizm Draft Picks -- a combo since I truly couldn't decide which way to go during this NFL Draft weekend.

THE TOP GUY ... 
The Card: Kyler Murray 2019 Panini Prizm Contenders Optic Mojo College Ticket autograph (/15)
The Price: $1,250 opening bid (six days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This card is perhaps a tad confusing ... it's a Contenders Optic card from Prizm and there's one in Prizm packs, too, but that one is not serial-numbered to 15 according to the checklists. Either way, this is a big pull and it's got on-card ink of the guy who went first in the 2019 NFL Draft last night and also the Heisman winner who is the only player ever taken in the first round of both the MLB and NFL drafts in the same year. There's a lot of attention and storyline here -- especially with the added Josh Rosen drama -- but he might be the biggest name of the bunch drafted so far when it comes to cardboard. (At least until everybody suits up.) This is an actual auction instead of a Buy-It-Now with new-car pricing attached, so we'll see how much demand there is here in a few days.

MASCOT-MANIA MEETS THE PRIZM RAINBOW
The Card: Big Al 2019 Panini Prizm Draft Orange Prizm 
The Price: $4.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This card isn't a direct pick per se, instead it's a reminder that Prizm includes a few surprises in the base set that are all found with parallels. There are 10 mascots in there each with 15 versions per card. The basic card is joined by a number of Prizms -- Black (1/1), Blue, Camo (/25), Gold (/10), Green (/5), Hyper (/75), Mojo (/49), Orange, Pink Pulsar, Purple, Red, Red White & Blue (/99), Silver and White Sparkle (/15). Look at those low volumes and you'll see that this could be a pretty serious and costly challenge for someone to collect 'em all -- and that could translate into some surprises if you're a seller who happens to land one of the furry sideline superstars of college football. A Gold version of this Alabama Crimson Tide legend sold for $35 on eBay. Which other mascots made the list? Texas, Ohio State, Florida, LSU, Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Oregon and Clemson.

FAME COMING?
The Card: Dwayne Haskins 2019 Panini Contenders College Ticket Fame Autograph (/5)
The Price: $2,999.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy heads to a team that seemingly always has a need for a quarterback and seemingly always comes up short. Could this Ohio State standout end up with some new fame to accurately reflect this Fame parallel card? We'll see -- he's definitely a notable name among the first-rounders drafted last night. And that's a strong starting point.

COACH + COLOR = CASH
The Card: Kyler Murray and Lincoln Riley 2019 Panini Prizm Draft College Ties Gold Prizm auto (/10)
The Price: Sold for $456 after 45 bids
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Murray is the runaway money-maker if you look at basic eBay searches for these two brands but it's Lincoln Riley's presence here that could make this a key card in the future. The young Oklahoma Sooners coach actually has a bunch of cardboard appearances thanks to a presence in last year's Allen & Ginter set and Panini Flawless, but his autograph card volume took a big tick upward with these two releases though stuff appears to be mostly on low-volume parallels. He's got close to 20 auto cards in Contenders but just six in this brand -- just 31 sigs in all -- between this pairing and a second one with Baker Mayfield. This is the highest-volume color for both cards. There are 24 pairings for College Ties and this one only has parallels. Riley is also the only c0ach in the mix, too.

THE FIRST RB DRAFTED ...
The Card: Josh Jacobs 2019 Panini Contenders Draft Picks Championship Ticket auto (1/1)
The Price:$2,499.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy doesn't have college stats that wow you -- 251 carries for 1,491 yards and 16 touchdowns ... for his three-year career -- but he's perhaps got less mileage on him than other notables out there that will be drafted after him. He was the first RB taken this year and he's walking into a mess that is known as the Oak Vegas Raiders. Why does he pique my interest? Well ... somebody will get the cardboard credit if things improve. Could he be the one? The Raiders have their fans so his stuff should get a little more attention now that he's been picked -- and this card is one of his first rarities. The price is likely high, but that best offer might be in play for a Raiders bargain-hunter who's a believer already.

A SUBSET THAT SELLS
The Card: Tom Brady 2019 Panini Prizm Draft Stained Glass Green Prizm (/5)
The Price: $399.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: While these look like an insert set, they are merely a 10-card subset in this release that's also paralleled quite a bit. Take 10 very notable names in football history -- Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Baker Mayfield,  Barry Sanders, Dan Marino, Emmitt Smith, John Elway, Peyton Manning, Saquon Barkley and Sam Darnold -- and add some rare parallels and you'll see some sales.
