A FIRST-PITCH PHENOM 
The Card: Hailey Dawson 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter #154
The Price: Affordable for base -- autographs and Relics should be in demand.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: She's a 9-year-old who has thrown out the first pitch at all 30 MLB ballparks, and, while that's impressive on its own, she's actually done that with a 3-D printed robotic hand -- she was born without three fingers and has two under-developed fingers since she has what's known as Poland syndrome. She completed the 30-park feat last September and it didn't take too long for her to get a baseball card. You can learn more about her adventures by following this Twitter account.

A record-setting MLB All-Star Home Run Derby means a monster day for baseball cards.

The Topps Now lineup for today includes more than 50 cards between standard cardboard, autographs and Relics from last night's big event won by New York Mets rookie Pete Alonso but with nods to the fireworks generated by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Joc Pederson and others in the event in advance of tonight's All-Star Game.

Here's a look at the top five players on this week's Baseball America Top MLB Prospects Hot Sheet and their seasons so far. It's a little something to help those who might want to dabble with prospecting -- some basics on their baseball cards alongside a highlight line from those more scouting-minded. We may not do this every week, but we'll check in on BA's top crop from time to time for the remainder of the season.

1. Joey Wentz, LHP, Braves — Double-A Mississippi Braves
Baseball America’s highlight line: “While his Mississippi rotation-mates have soared, Wentz has found Double-A to be a little more difficult. But lately there have been some very positive signs. His velocity has ticked back up to the 91-94 mph range, which helps his changeup play as the above-average and even plus pitch it can be at its best. Wentz tied his career high in strikeouts with nine on July 1 and then set a new career high with 10 strikeouts on July 6."

Buzz’s card take: That BA blurb didn't seem all that sold on him but the reason he's here might be his overall stats -- 19 strikeouts in 12-plus innings with just two runs and five walks in his last two starts. A 1.42 ERA ain't shabby, either. He doesn't have a lot of cards in general -- and just under 100 autographs -- despite arriving back in 2015 Leaf Perfect Game releases. His first Chrome autos arrived just last year so check those boxes if you were busy chasing Shohei Ohtani this time last year. The Braves are going to be getting plenty of looks from collectors with all their young talent ... so he's worth a look, too.

PSA will have a number of things for fans to check out and dig into at The National this year.

First, it will be giving away a graded Michael Jordan 1986-87 Fleer Rookie Card during three days of the show -- and if you aren't going you can still enter to win one of them by clicking right here. Up first will be a PSA 8 on the Thursday of the show, a PSA 8.5 on Friday and a PSA 9 on Saturday of the event that begins in Chicago on July 31.

There also will be show-exclusive promo cards and even more going on -- a card-grading contest for starters -- if you visit the authenticator's booth.

They can't all be the longballs.

In fact, most game-used baseballs that arrive into collectors' hands are far from that. They're often the near-anonymous pitch in the dirt or an even worse (unless you collect pitchers) swing-and-miss that touched absolutely nothing but leather.

A Chicago Cubs fan you know might need a loan.

That's because the fielding gloves used by Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo when they fielded the final out in the 2016 World Series to end 108 years of heartache are headed to the auction block on Aug. 1 in Chicago via a Goldin Auctions event coinciding with the National Sports Collectors Convention.

The opening bid? A cool $250,000 -- and they are being sold together.

Both gloves are signed and inscribed by the players to note their historic status with documentation from both MLB Authentication and Fanatics, which handled autograph signings with the championship team. The items have been seen on countless pieces of memorabilia given their significance, of course, with the Bryant glove seen on one of his 2017 Topps Heritage cards and both on the cover of Sports Illustrated being just two examples.

"Goldin Auctions is proud to offer at auction two significant pieces of history involving that monumental play," reads the auction listing. "Two truly remarkable pieces of baseball history offered in one lot."

The newest Topps X set is here -- 2019 Topps X Lindor -- and it's a release crafted by the Cleveland Indians shortstop. It's up for grabs now at Topps.com or via the company's booth at MLB Play Ball Park as part of the All-Star Game fan festivities.

Each $49.99 set includes an autograph or a memorabilia card and the hit subjects aren't limited to the name on the box. In fact, it can include ink from some of the biggest names in the game today and from the past.

Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals just might be to rip fewer blasters this year and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention. Would they capture yours? I'd be interested to know -- sometimes they might, sometimes they won't and that's fine. It's a buyer's market out there with plenty of options and bargains as well as high-end gems to chase.

So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ... and this time around it's a mix of hits and basics.

A SMALL USA BASEBALL GEM
The Card: Tony Zych 2009 Upper Deck Signature Stars USA National Team Premier Materials Cap Flag Patches (/4)
The Price: Under $10
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: USA Baseball products have some types of hits you just don't see elsewhere and they aren't all one-of-kind creations, either. Zych was still a college player here but he did make it to The Show for three seasons with the Mariners but he's ultimately not why you see this one here -- it's because it's a unique patch from a cap that's a small version of a larger chase that USA sets are known for. This USA crop in this particular release is stacked between all of the USA ink and mem cards and a strong list of names who have made MLB. Other players with cards like this one in those cheap boxes? Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Trevor Bauer, Gerrit Cole, Sonny Gray and Kolten Wong. There are 27 players with these cards, though not all have four copies. Either way, this one is a gem to me as I have always had a soft spot for prime USA stuff. Why? Because I've actually pulled some -- they're far from impossible finds and they're not from high-end boxes price-wise.
