The arrival of 2017 Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition baseball cards this week offers an interesting twist on the products that have been, relatively speaking, a fun rip in recent years.

The idea? A signed buyback card in every pack -- except this time it's today's stars on cards from the recent past and on their Rookie Cards, a bit of a do-over with signed RCs or prospect cards for those who never had them.

Aaron Judge has a high-dollar 2013 Bowman Chrome auto with a full rainbow but this time his base card gets enhanced, stamped and encased and somebody will land that for the price of box. With 99 copies signed, it's actually one card that's very plentiful in this release-- and yet one of them sold for $350 on eBay.

Today's highly anticipated release of the JFK files -- the previously classified documents regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 -- are sure to be a holiday of sorts for conspiracy theorists and are sure to pique the curiosity of history buffs and presidential-minded people.

We got a preview of the possibilities of the postseason last week when Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/utility player Enrique Hernandez smacked three home runs in Game 5 of the NLCS.

His few baseball cards suddenly had a lot more interest and that's something that David Freese, Andruw Jones, David Eckstein and many others can relate to. The postseason and the World Series is where new stars are born, especially on cardboard.

Hernandez played his first MLB game in 2014 -- and was drafted five years before that, ironically by the Houston Astros, who he'll face in the World Series beginning tonight -- and through all that time he'd barely appeared on 100 different baseball cards, got just one Rookie Card and one certified autograph before a rainbow of Topps Now cards arrived last Friday.

Three autographed baseballs representing a cult classic episode of The Simpsons and a subsequent "mockumentary" of the episode will benefit the charity of a baseball icon soon.

It's all part of a Goldin Auctions sale of baseballs signed by those involved in "Springfield of Dreams" which aired last night as part of a 25th anniversary celebration of "Homer at the Bat" a year that also included honors at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

A run of Topps Heritage near master sets -- in this case every single card in the product -- for the first decade of the popular brand as well as a pair of autograph proof sheets featuring cards that were never produced have hit the auction block via Robert Edward Auctions. 

The run begins with the first Heritage set from 2001 -- a product among a few celebrating the company's 50th anniversary that year, and one that offered us a re-do of the iconic 1952 Topps set but with today's stars and nods to the past -- and runs to 2011 when Heritage hit the memorable wood-bordered 1962 Topps design.

The newest SCP Auctions event launched this week with some items that defy the imagination -- items that you probably wouldn't imagine them to still exist, let alone be up for grabs.

Some of them, such as this 2013 Fresno State Aaron Judge game-used jersey, open with more modest prices of $4,000, while college classics such as a Lew Alcindor game-used UCLA jersey is already at $44,288 after less than a day of active bidding.
