A NEW RETAIL INCLUSION ...
The Set: Widevision retail blaster box-topper cards
The Price: Will vary by player.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Something new this year are these over-sized Widevison cards only found in blaster boxes. There are 25 cards on its checklist and, while I have not yet seen them in hand, they appear to be tallboy sized (or close to it) with a slightly different proportion that might give us some good crops on cards we don't always see. These drop one per box and should figure to be plentiful ... as long as people are ripping and not sitting on them to flip. (Sorry, shelf-clearers, beyond some rare and rookie autos here, this one is more of a traditional release than a clean-it-out and reap the resale rewards ... the odds just are not that easy.) These are a great touch, though, and if you're buying by the (40-box!) blaster case you should ideally come up just short of a couple sets if the collation is good. Unlike Archives' toppers, there do not appear to be autographed versions here based on the checklist linked above.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

TEN PACKS, TEN AUTOGRAPHS
The Box: 2008 Razor Signature Series baseball box
The Price: Click here
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: With the MLB Draft tonight, I figured I'd give this one a nod both for the power of prospect cards in everything when it comes to baseball these days and for the reality that not all draft classes age that well. This one has an autograph in every pack and a number of guys who made it to MLB and then many who didn't really make much of a mark. Your most-notable autos here at this point are Giancarlo Stanton (in his "Mike" days) as well as Buster Posey, Charlie Blackmon and Eric Hosmer. Others that have been of note at times? Tim Beckham, Pedro Alvarez, Yonder Alonso and Matt Wieters to name a few. An autograph in every pack makes this one fun but it can be a bit of a bummer if you don't land one of the bigger names ... but at the low-price volume still makes for a decent rip and you can find parallels and dual autos, too.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE NFL'S GOAT STEALS THE SHOW
The Experience: Tom Brady's first Tampa Bay Bucs game-used jersey, cleats & more
The Price: $140,000 (so far ... after six bids)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The winner of this one gets the choice of a private workout or a private dinner with Brady following his home debut with the Bucs (whenever that happens) -- and the winner gets Brady's first game-used jersey as well as his cleats as part of this auction in the All-In Challenge, which also has a number of other experiences up for grabs via raffle ticket formats. Brady's first Bucs jersey is a huge deal if you ask me ... but there are other actions also worth a look. For simplicity, this list is limited to a few from the 66 auctions and it's focused on the sports world -- there are far more other things out there, including film roles, golf outings with athletes and celebs, the chance to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated and even the chance to be an NBA Draft pick -- all of those via tickets starting as low as $10. More than $8.1 million has been raised so far.

SMALL SURPRISES AND STRONG PHOTOS
The Card: Big Air Big Hair ... Card No. 298
The Price: Cheap but fun.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a textbook example of how some of the basic inclusions in this one -- either team cards or checklists -- can have fun photos that help make the simple inclusions a little more interesting. This is something that some brands do often and with deliberate appeal -- think Stadium Club -- but flagship Topps has done this more in recent years and the results are getting a little better. One touch on this card that some might notice? The new (old) logo for the Brewers will be found in this series. It also doesn't hurt that one of the strong sophomores, Keston Hiura, is here, too. This won't be an expensive card at all -- it's just a nod to remember that fun stuff adds value in other ways and we might all remember that more often ... a good photo can make a good card, too.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this one ...

GRAB THEM EARLY BIRDS ...
The Card: Lamar Jackson 2018 autos (any)
The Price: They're not cheap at all right now -- this slightly damaged one is $569.99 (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This isn't the best time to shop for early autographs of this game-changer, but he's a perfect example of how a ton of newcomers (or returners) to collecting with deep pockets along with people buying to hold and then sell stuff out of high-end not-readily-available boxes are helping create some crazy cardboard markets out there for hot players. And yet I'd say that this card ... with some edge damage ... is still actually priced as a bit of a steal. Jackson has put on a show this season and I'd say that any of his 2018 autos should be given a hard look but with more attention given to rarer stuff with on-card ink preferred or at least cleanly signed specimens if you're considering stickers. Why? He's got big potential right now both in what's left for this season and in future campaigns -- and somebody has to compete for the big hobby dollars once people can't grab the elite Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes cards out there. Check out the 2018 NFL boxes here for your shot to pull his ink. If you don't want to pay as much, just shop for his 2019 stuff -- it's still stiffly priced but not as tough as rookie-year cardboard.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

SAFETY IN NUMBERS -- AS IN A BOATLOAD OF ROOKIE CARDS
The Box: 2019 Topps Update Series Baseball Jumbo Box
The Price: Click here
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This year's rookie crop is a strong one -- and there might be more potential than the 2018 class that sparked serious interest in this release last year. It was seemingly plentiful all year long and then poof -- the rocketship took off. This year's isn't super-cheap (right now) but some of that fuel seemingly has gone to Series 2 since it has earlier cards for a couple of high-profile guys -- Series 2 is pricey and surprised me -- but this one has some of those guys' cards as well as a number of others. Topps Chrome also seems to have some very good potential in my mind, too, but these jumbo boxes include a ton of stuff and the chances you get at parallels and other stuff here - in volume -- put this one at the top of my list. (And if you're on a budget and don't want to swing hard on this one -- you might look for blasters of Series 2 and Update both here and at retail ... those can still be found. These won't last as long as those, though.)Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE RETIRING CHAMP
The Card: Jimmie Johnson 2018 Panini Prizm Patented Penmanship auto
The Price: $69.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Boxes: Click here for all NASCAR stuff
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This 44-year-old announced today that the 2020 NASCAR season will be his final campaign as a full-time Cup driver and, in turn, his final shot at becoming the all-time season championship record-holder. He's presently tied with Richard Petty at seven career NASCAR Cup Series titles and has been that way since 2016 when he last took home the crown. In the three seasons since then, his best finish was 10th so it's debatable whether he might make a run in his final lap, but he will be one who is watched heavily. I met and interviewed him when he was a rookie which was fun back in the day but I'm actually not sure if I've ever pulled one of his autographs in my off-and-on time collecting NASCAR stuff. There's a decent amount of ink for him out there -- more than 800 different cards -- but his autograph has always been relatively minimalist, so that's why I never chased one otherwise. I might make sure to track one down now.Keep reading for five more items in this week's roundup ...

PAST MEETS PRESENT
The Card: Ronald Acuña Jr. & Hank Aaron 2019 Topps Tribute Tandem Autograph Booklets Red (/10)
The Price: $1,999.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: OK, maybe this is a Pick Seven this week, but this card is a perfect example of get it while you can when it comes to autographs. This card is super-rare and from a high-end brand and it includes autographs of one guy who you should have these days and one guy you need to have in your collection if you do baseball. Acuña is the autograph you should have as he's an emerging MVP-caliber talent -- a guy who came up just short of being the youngest member of the super-elite 40-40 Club at age 21 ... while mostly batting leadoff. The other is an MLB legend you need to own in some fashion, the former home run king who hit more home runs than anyone in history* (save for That One Guy*). This is the elite past meeting the elite future. Aaron is 85 and his handwriting has gotten rougher over time, while Acuña will have plenty of reasons to potentially not sign new autograph deals if he becomes more and more successful on the field. Aaron was the auto that came to mind first for me, but Acuña is perhaps the autograph to own for this season. Thankfully, I've pulled both of these guys' autos out of packs in the past, so I haven't had to chase them -- but they should both be in an MLB collection.Keep reading for five more items in this week's roundup ...

The Box: 2019 Topps Heritage High Number baseball cards
The Price: Click here
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one is pretty obvious as to why it was picked -- it's loaded with MLB Rookie Cards and autographs for those guys as well as some legends from today as well as the past. Ink isn't found in every single box but you won't care if you land a Hank Aaron, Pete Alonso, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Ronald Acuña Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto, Shohei Ohtani or Mike Trout. CAREER-SAVER FOR MANY
The Card: Dr. James Andrews 2019 Topps Archives Fan Favorites Autographs
The Price: Moderate demand -- these might surprise you at first (first eBay listing here)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: It's been five years since this famed orthopedic surgeon appeared on his first baseball cards in Allen & Ginter but this brand is a natural spot for the oddities directly tied to baseball, too. The list of athletes he's worked on is meaty -- it's a big part of his Wikipedia bio and that's far from all of them -- and he's a team doctor for a number of organizations, too. Among the notables? Bo Jackson, Troy Aikman, Drew Brees, Terrell Owens, Roger Clemens, John Smoltz, Jim Thome, Bryce Harper, Yu Darvish, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Jack Nicklaus, Triple H, John Cena and Shawn Michaels among others. (They all might want his autograph, you know.)Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

LOADED WITH ROOKIES
The Cards: Eloy Jimenez, Keston Hiura, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Pete Alonso & Fernando Tatis Jr. Rookie Cards (and more)
The Prices: Will vary by player
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This year's revisiting of 1970 Topps was admittedly dry on the RC front but this series more than makes up for it and it takes that A+ grade I gave last year's edition with its rookies and gives it a nudge. This one is just as loaded and just as strong. There are more than 40 RCs on the standard checklist of just 200 cards for this one and then there are a few more (not the big names) among the 25 short-prints. The key names will be found often here and that's a recipe for strong breaks and plenty of heat if you're ripping at the case level. Heritage RCs and their autos have been some of the biggest movers (especially when slabbed) the last few years and this one will be just as strong. Now consider you'll also get parallels and variations (noted on checklist) ... oh, boy.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

Have you seen the latest cool cards from a new release? With so many options for collectors of all kinds arriving every week it's possible you haven't. That's where Buzz comes in. This week's list is not for those who are deep prospectors, rather it's for those who might look to dabble with young MLB players without the wait for them to arrive. My list, which should be an obvious one for most collectors, simply spotlights six rookies who are playing well. Their biggest cards are already priced big -- but that doesn't mean you can't find some nice underpriced stuff and build some gains as they play well this season.
The new six: No product this time -- just six MLB rookies Buzz is watching.

SLIGHTLY OFF THE RADAR?
The Player: Keston Hiura, 2B, Milwaukee Brewers
The Stats: Hitting .307 with 13 HRs and 30 RBI in 52 games
Why he's Buzz-worthy: You won't necessarily see him atop the season's leaders for rookies since he's only played in 52 games this year, but he's already in The Show in just his third campaign as a pro. He hit .317 in 222 MiLB games and that might be the biggest key here in my mind -- he's not just a power guy unlike others you will see on this list. He did have 36 homers and 122 RBI in those MiLB games, too, but the production here just seems balanced and reliable with some pop. An example of that? In his first three at-bats on Wednesday night he had a homer, a double and another homer, upping his average to .309.

DON'T CALL HIM A SLEEPER, BUT ...
The Card: Josh Jacobs 2019 Donruss Elite NFL Pen Pals (or any ink)
The Price: $118.51 for this one (/25)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy shouldn't be seen as a sleeper but he might be compared to some of the first-rounders' autos out there -- and he's my pick for a player with potential this season. Why? A few reasons. First, the OakVegas Raiders were a trainwreck last year so somebody has to matter when it comes to cardboard this year -- and it can't be the coach. There are star players there but they've had injuries, baggage and there's no guarantee they won't be traded off somewhere for a box of rocks (OK, OK, draft picks) at any time. A look at Jacobs' college stats probably won't tell the story, either, as he ultimately only had a breakout year last season despite playing three for Nick Saban at Alabama. He had 120 carries for 640 yard last season but scored 11 TDs. He also added 20 catches for 247 and three TDs. His other two seasons top those for yardage but not much else. He was the first RB taken in this year's NFL Draft at 24th overall so there could be one reason for attention for his cards. One more that's still to come? The Raiders are the team for this year's Hard Knocks series in HBO that kicks off on Aug. 6. That has helped guys' cards in the past -- well at least ones who don't have a ton of card appearances. (He's not that guy this time -- already over 400 different.) His cards are worth a look when they're on the cheap side.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

A FIRST-PITCH PHENOM
The Card: Hailey Dawson 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter #154
The Price: Affordable for base -- autographs and Relics should be in demand.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: She's a 9-year-old who has thrown out the first pitch at all 30 MLB ballparks, and, while that's impressive on its own, she's actually done that with a 3-D printed robotic hand -- she was born without three fingers and has two under-developed fingers since she has what's known as Poland syndrome. She completed the 30-park feat last September and it didn't take too long for her to get a baseball card. That's where Buzz comes in -- well at least on one brand you'll see here from time to time in what we're calling Buzz's Pick Six. Simply put, here are six cards from a new arrival that seemed interesting to this collector and we think they might interest you, too.
This week's release: 2019 Topps Stadium Club baseball cards

A BIG CHALLENGE
The Set: 2019 Topps Stadium Club jumbo box-topper set
The Price: Moderately challenging
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: A new inclusion this year are box-topper cards and the challenge is that there are 50 of them -- one per box. Do the math and you'll need somebody ripping into four cases to land them all, assuming clean collation. Why do I like these? The larger size (roughly 4-by-6) give you a little better look at some cards that just don't read as well at standard size. One example? The Jackie Robinson you see here -- note the details with the dugout, the faces in the crowd and more -- and then think about how getting an autograph might have been different back then, especially with this being from Robinson's first day at spring training with the team on March 6, 1948, according to Getty Images. With 50 jumbo cards in the set and a lot of classic images -- and it not being an impossible project -- this could be popular. While the prices should drop over time, they may not always be immediately available, so I'd recommend picking off what you think are the best ones early.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE TOP GUY ...
The Card: Kyler Murray 2019 Panini Prizm Contenders Optic Mojo College Ticket autograph (/15)
The Price: $1,250 opening bid (six days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This card is perhaps a tad confusing ... it's a Contenders Optic card from Prizm and there's one in Prizm packs, too, but that one is not serial-numbered to 15 according to the checklists. Either way, this is a big pull and it's got on-card ink of the guy who went first in the 2019 NFL Draft last night and also the Heisman winner who is the only player ever taken in the first round of both the MLB and NFL drafts in the same year. There's a lot of attention and storyline here -- especially with the added Josh Rosen drama -- but he might be the biggest name of the bunch drafted so far when it comes to cardboard. (At least until everybody suits up.) This is an actual auction instead of a Buy-It-Now with new-car pricing attached, so we'll see how much demand there is here in a few days.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

A CONTINUING LEGACY
The Card: The San Diego Chicken (aka Ted Giannoulas) 2019 Donruss autographed memorabilia card (/85)
The Price: $99.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This fine feathered friend of baseball has had a place in Donruss packs since the early 1980s and this new set includes the latest in fowl ballcards. This particular six-piece looks to include a couple wings, a thigh and three jersey swatches plus the autograph from the man behind the beak, who has been signing meticulously for years despite having one of the longest names in cardboard history. I grabbed one of his memorabilia cards in recent years but these are always worth a look.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE ROOKIE ARRIVES
The Card: Yusei Kikuchi 2019 Topps Opening Day #55 Rookie Card
The Price: Should be affordable ... but could surprise early on
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Take a quick glance at the basic checklist and it should be apparent that this one might be the front-runner upon arrival. It's the MLB Rookie Card for a headline-generating rookie from Japan -- who will make his MLB debut for the Mariners later this month in Japan. He's set to be the starter for the second game of the Mariners' series against the Oakland A's in Tokyo. The 27-year-old is 2-1 with a 4.00 ERA and six strikeouts in nine innings this spring. He's a former Seibu Lins standout who went 74-48 with a 2.81 ERA in eight seasons.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

BATTING LEADOFF ...
The Card: Boston Red Sox World Series Champions 2019 Topps Heritage Card No. 1
The Price: Affordable once they arrive
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Just like the original set this one is built on, 1970 Topps, this one leads off with the defending champs in a modern celebration photo that's miles beyond the stiff team shot of the 1969 New York Mets that led things off back in the day. This card gets my nod because you'll see dozens of new Sox cards throughout this release with base cards, All-Stars, postseason highlights, World Series highlights and plenty more once these arrive. You'll see more Soxy cardboard at the end of this pre-release Pick Six, too.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE BOTTOM LINE ...
The Card: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin 2019 Topps WWE Transcendent Collection Autographs (any)
The Price: None of this color on eBay yet ... but they won't come cheap ($999 for base)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This high-end release has several of the biggest names in recent WWE history inside and few can top this guy, the beer-chugging, mouth-running, butt-whooping, bird-flipping hellraiser who helped redefine the wrestling landscape in the 1990s. His autographs here are his first cards signed for Topps, despite its current run of making WWE cards pushing 15 years now. (What?) He also only had one WWE-approved certified autograph before this release -- way back in the 2001 Fleer WWF WrestleMania Signature Moves Autographs set. That one is a no-frills standard card limited to only 500 copies and the only copy on eBay has a lofty asking price. It's been a strong seller in the past. The rainbow of autos in Transcendent include standard (/25), Blue (/15), Purple (/10), Black (/5) and 1/1 Gold and Red versions so these won't exactly open the floodgates to lower prices. Will there be more autos to come after these? I'm not sure I'd bank on it, but you never know. Either way, the 57 autos to come from this brand will be in demand.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

UNIFORM NUMBER PREMIUM?
The Card: Baker Mayfield 2018 Panini Contenders Draft Class Gold Autograph (/18)
The Price: $1,999.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I didn't choose this card because of the serial-number that matches his uniform -- that might be partly behind the asking price here as it's a one-of-a-kind card from the 18 that exist -- instead it's simply because I think there might be more upside for his non-standard autographs in this one as people chase the regular autographs and their various parallels more for this brand. Those are pricey (and this is, too) but over time if he continues to build upon his rookie year it's the rarer cards that could have the most movement or interest vs. those that everybody chased and more people might have. I also picked this one because I think the design is solid and the photo works so well I'd almost slap the "cardboard perfection" tag on this one. In fact, I can't do that. It is perfect.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE KING OF BLASTERS
The Card: Luka Doncic Green Pulsar parallel (/25) BGS 10
The Price: $15,999 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There's no doubt that it's this rookie who is the cream of the crop right now when it comes to Prizm Rookie Cards, but this one is here for you to consider one simple fact about tis pricey piece of cardboard. It came from a blaster. Now, if it could sell for that price, it's even more impressive ... but it's still a solid card. Only 24 others exist and only five others have been slabbed. This is the only 10 -- and there are only 21 other 10s for any Doncic Prizm card to get that grade. Fun fact: His Silvers have been slabbed 421 times and 216 of those have gotten a BGS 9.5. Just two got 10s. Meanwhile, his base RC has only been slabbed 301 times and there are six 10s ... more 10s than any other card.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

THE CHAMPS ARE HERE
The Card: David Price World Series Champion Autographed Relics (/50 max)
The Price: N/A as these are not available yet
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy's dominating postseason led the Red Sox to another World Series title and that means we get a few highlight cards in the base set and some rarer hits among the chase cards for this latest crown. Our sneak peek at this set arrives just after the checklist, which shows a handful of base cards for the Series, 14 World Series Champion Relics (/99 max), 12 World Series Champion Autographs (/50 max) and seven guys in the World Series Champion Autographed Relics set. These are typically not the easiest pulls as they are limited and the run for this one is larger than others due to popularity. Price is perhaps the biggest auto in this one with Brock Holt, Chris Sale, Christian Vazquez, Eduardo Rodriguez, Matt Barnes and Rick Porcello joining him. There will be Red parallels for all of these sets, too.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

AN AFFORDABLE INCLUSION
The Set: 25-card Panini Status set
The Price: $29.99 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Ok, this isn't a new brand, but with a bunch of new baseball cards on the way this year starting soon, one of last year's crazier brands in terms of a wide array of inclusions gets my nod this week. Leading off? This small set from Chronicles -- not one of the more complicated ones in the release -- that's an affordable one to collect with some good names. Ronald Acuña Jr., Shohei Ohtani, Rhys Hoskins, Rafael Devers Gleyber Torres and Ozzie Albies are just a few of the players in this one, which is heavy on rookies but also includes a few other young players such as Corey Seager and Paul Goldschmidt. If you want a challenge beyond just the basic Status set there are Black, Blue, Gold and Red parallels and then an autograph lineup that includes standard, Black (1/1) and Gold (/3) autos. The rarer autos appear to have a full lineup while just four guys (nobody big) have standard ink. I wasn't that impressed with this different but familiar approach for the NBA but something about these I just like -- at least when there's a strong photo used like with the Acuña.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...

A SURPRISING HOBBY FIRST?
The Card: Shawn Michaels and Triple H Black Dual Autographs (/5)
The Price: $1,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Believe it or not (Buzz didn't), the three cards of these two WWE veterans in this release are the first cards ever to feature their autographs together. Considering their hijinks as D-Generation X ... that's a shocker. There is a standard card (/10), this parallel and a 1/1 Red version. How did this happen? Well, Triple H hasn't been a big signer in the past but recently signed with the company -- simple as that. (Michaels never was a heavy signer, either, though he could be found in a few products here and there ... even in a past Allen & Ginter release.) Ironically Michaels' number of different auto cards has been topped by Triple H in recent years. Is this asking price too much? Maybe, but there are only 15 other (total) signed cards out there to compete with it.Keep reading for five more interesting items in this week's roundup ...
