Fast Five is a quick list that might offer a basic starting point for a themed collection or new focus -- five things that could be fun for a beginner or a new way to add something to your stash if you're a grizzled veteran.

This time? Five affordable autographs you can get at The National this year.

WHAT?
Frank Whaley, actor ($39 any item; $10 inscription)
There's only one inscription I'd add with an autograph for this veteran actor who will be signing at the show and that would be on a Pulp Fiction photo something like this one. And that inscription is "What?" -- never has a four-letter addition ever been a better buy. While I suspect he and others signing -- or show promotors -- will have photo options you should be able to buy, I'd choose my own destiny and find something like this. Sports fans might consider a Moonlight Graham photo of him from Field of Dreams or maybe one could consider something from The Doors where he played legendary guitarist Robby Kreiger. It's all about a cool item that can make the ink here and there's good potential with a long list of credits. Heck, at this price I'd try something for all three movies -- or maybe Career Opportunities. Frank Whaley signs on Friday and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. (Times all subject to change.)

With less than one week left before pre-orders close -- this coming Monday is the final deadline -- your shot at getting your hands on the annual Blowout MegaMix is winding down.

You can order boxes or cases of this one and have it delivered now (click here to pre-order) -- or order to pick up your box at the National Sports Collectors Convention. If you don't do either, there will be a very limited volume of these remixed boxes to be found at this year's show set to begin on July 27 in Atlantic City, N.J. -- but that's only while supplies last.

If you didn't know, there's a new approach this year that ups the variety to ideally hit more collectors' sweet spots while lowering the price point to let more fans dig into the chase. That simple change? Packs. The left side of the sellsheet you see above is just the start of what's up for grabs in this edition -- this time it's a box with at least 10 packs inside as the starting point. New this year there also will be sealed cases of these boxes available -- six boxes per case -- that offer up some smaller bonuses and a surer shot at some of the bonus items that are planned to land every third box with this one.

PSA will have on-site grading and authentication services at The National this year as well as a submission special at the show -- and that's not all as its parent company's plans also include other options for fans of grading, authentication and more.

"This will be a great chance for Collectors to show off not only what PSA brings to the table every year, but what its other entities like Card Ladder and WATA have to offer as well," said PSA President Kevin Lenane. "We’re really looking forward to a great show."

The National is just weeks away and COMC revealed its plans for the show of shows on Wednesday.

Booth 1240 at the Atlantic City show --  it starts on July 27 and runs until July 31 -- will be in the corporate pavilion and the home base of all their plans.

What's on tap? The selling site will be doing in-person consignment drop-offs, a discounted submission promotion good only at the show, Time With Tim (meetings with founder and CEO Tim Getsch) and scratch-to-win cards good for discounts and plenty more.
