Check those 2024 Bowman card backs ... for some weird facts

Have you looked at your 2024 Bowman card backs yet?

It's fine if you haven't -- we know you're busy looking for the new big names, their colorful Chrome parallels and, of course, their autographs -- but for years now there have been tons of trivial nuggets that appear on cards that can be downright odd.

They're found on the "Up Close" blurbs across all base and prospect cards in this release -- and plenty of past ones -- and after ripping my first blaster of the year I did my check for them ... and again they delivered ... even with a small sample size.

The Adley Rutschman card above was perhaps the standout of the small bunch in my box with "bountiful hugs," the origin of "Rooster" as part of a Top Gun: Maverick name-drop and a nod to family sports, too. They're not all that jam-packed, but every card has Up Close details from what I've seen this year.

Let's take a look at 20 more card backs from 2024 Bowman cards ...

Manny Machado ... among many with a musical name drop.

Jose Tena ... more music but more importantly does he know how pricey those Juan Uribe cards are?

Luis Arraez ... not the lone arepas mention Buzz saw today along with more likes and musical name drops.

Matt Olson ... music, football, golf ... a bit straight-forward -- just like his 54 homers last year for the Braves.

Julio Rodriguez ... His YouTube Vibin' gets a nod along with charity efforts ... but no mention of The J-Rod Show? (What?!)

Ronald Acuña Jr. ... "We are family" is perhaps the theme song for this card.

Brooks Lee ... That's a lot of baseball trivia there along with the alternative sports. I bet they all have some cardboard ... especially That Other Brooks Guy.

Sandy Alcantara ... There's a lot going on with this one but not as much as "Sandman" being one of 11 children. Whew.

Heston Kjerstad ... Water and tea!

Tyler Soderstrom ... Fishing, In-N-Out, Happy Gilmore and more -- that's a big-league card back.

Jasson Dominguez ... Excellent Giambi name drop, though I feel like there could have been more to this one.

Colton Cowser ... soccer -- with size-14 feet -- and construction management? Sounds like some back-up plans if this baseball thing doesn't work out.

Bobby Witt Jr. ... PSA alert, more musical name drops and mystery TV shows. Hmm ...

Gerrit Cole ... plenty going on there, but I hadn't heard the Brandon Crawford trivia -- shouldn't be surprising with all the UCLA going on here.

Henry Davis ... Buzz is wondering ... how do the splits look for his night games?

Anthony Volpe ... USA Hockey, a World Series parade and a phone full of clips. That's a solid trivial lineup.

Juan Soto ... "Soto volunteered to buy Nick Martinez a Rolex watch, which Martinez agreed was a fair price. His initial ask, in the form of a picture he texted Soto, was a boat," said the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Bo Bichette ... Bo and Joe? Did not know that. Shampoo trivia? Shocker! (Odd part? Mane 'N Tail is a series for humans and horses.)

Enmanuel Tejada ... Some Bad Bunny and Travis Scott for starters ... and "blossoming pop" among the skills. (Go back and read some of that section on these ... everybody's grading an 80 or something.)

Ethan Salas ... Finally, some video game mentions -- there were not as many there as I had expected. Maybe I need to pull more of the prospect cards next time ...
