Clock ticks for arrival of 2018-19 Panini Prizm basketball -- with FOTL boxes offering an early look at what's to come

We're just days away from the hobby arrival of 2018-19 Panini Prizm basketball cards -- one of the hobby's hottest brands for NBA fans in recent years -- and the latest gems from Panini America are starting to trickle onto eBay where they'll be sure to spark some interest this season.

How's that happening already? That's thanks to First Off The Line boxes that are beginning to arrive now in advance of Prizm's arrival next week. Meanwhile, the retail edition is on the way very soon, too, with its Silver parallel presence being one people will watch after last season.

Those First Off The Line boxes vanished off of Panini's site immediately -- there's a standing Blowout's Most Wanted buying offer here -- but there's plenty to be found throughout the product with its parallels and other inclusions, a new rookie class and other stars who people know well. The strong demand for Silvers in this season's NFL boxes might be thanks to NBA heat last year, so you can expect that demand to also be in play this time around, too. There's no ink or serial-numbering necessary for Silvers to mean gold -- it all just comes down to who you get.

A big plus this time around? You get 22 Prizm parallels per hobby box and your autos -- two per box -- can have parallel colors, too. In recent years, big-name rookies with and without ink can command four-figure and sometimes five-figure price tags when in high-grade slabs -- all despite Prizm boxes not being among the priciest boxes on the planet.

It's the demand and the simplicity that helps everyone potentially get in on that chase (reminder on those Silvers).

The sold price on the first two Ben Simmons cards in the gallery below? A cool $9,300 and $3,555 when graded. The Orange Giannis Antetokounmpo? A freakish $4,450 slabbed. The Nikola Jokic sold for $4,250. The Kyrie Irving went for $3,938.88. They are far from alone among completed auctions. The active ones are even crazier with asking prices for graded rarities of Devin Booker, Antetokounmpo, Simmons, Jokic, and Lauri Markkanen at $10,000 or more and plenty below that.

Those are elite pulls, but there are plenty of other reasons to rip into those mylar packs when they present themselves -- all you have to do is search for Silver.
