Collecting Game-used: A big win from the MLB bargain bin II

Here's the sequel to my recent Cardinals game-used baseball grab from the bargain bin -- it's not quite as flashy as last month, but this one's used by star for the home team and a win for the price of a blaster box if you ask me.

As I noted last time, this was a blind-bag buy ... all you can control is picking the date of your ball. I scouted the schedule and found Game 1 of a doubleheader from last September that had a pair of notable starters and a whole lot of runs scored ... meaning more chances at a notable ball or play.

Thanks to the relatively new MLB Film Room you can easily find clips of plays -- even the mundane ones -- and literally all three pitches where this ball was authenticated as used can be found there.

THE BASICS ...
Game-used ball (MLB Authenticated): Detroit Tigers vs. St. Louis Cardinals, Sept. 10, 2020 (Game 1)

The matchup: Cardinals SP Jack Flaherty vs. Tigers 1B Jeimer Candelario
The result: A ball, a called strike (Yadier Molina behind plate) and a groundout to 1B Paul Goldschmidt

What's Buzz-worthy: This ball is lightly used for the most part with one panel having some light discoloration and another with some minor scuffing -- it's pretty clean like the box score for the Cardinals ace as part of a 12-2 win. (My other ball was a K for opposing starter Tarik Skubal and was dirtier ... so I did well with a pair of blindly picked baseballs.) Had this one been bought at the ballpark it would have been $75 -- call that the ace premium -- so for $23.99 shipped this one feels better despite its no-nonsense video clips. This one was from Flaherty's third win of the year -- the 22nd of his career (that's his uni number) -- but otherwise it doesn't really have any statistics attached to it. Hey, they can't all be Ks ... but at least I got the ace with my random draw.
