This month's item in the Collecting Game-used series is one that's simple ... but it shows the life of a ball can be brief but still have some fun trivia attached.
This one? It's another of my $10 bargain-bin balls picked up in the past -- a former league MVP who's now in New York being the key name that made me grab it. It's nothing too dramatic, but it definitely shows some use -- and this one is even attached to a pair of pitches.
You can keep reading to see the details ... and the ball in action thanks to the MLB Film Room.
THE BASICS ...
Game-used ball (MLB Authenticated): Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phllies, Sept. 12, 2019
Watch it in action: Click below (two pitches)

The matchup: Phillies SP Drew Smyly vs. Braves 3B Josh Donaldson
The result: Called strike and then a ball in the dirt during a fourth-inning at-bat in a 9-5 Phillies win
What's Buzz-worthy: This ball's lifespan was two pitches per its MLB Authentication (in gallery below) -- a fastball that got a look and a curveball that caused all that scuffing and meant its demise. I found this one in the Phillies bargain bin -- that $10 price even included a ball cube -- and thanks to the MLB Film Room clips here you can see it in action. Ironically, it's from the same game as a previous ball I've thrown into this series while I was just looking for good names and it's the second one I own where it was a simple curveball in the dirt that gets immediately handed back to the ump by catcher J.T. Realmuto. Are there any particular milestones here? Nope, but Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies both homered in the loss. (Note: The sticker is missing some silver on there, but it came straight from the ballpark via the Phillies so it's nothing I'd worry about.)
