Could new NASCAR cards be coming soon? Perhaps per Xfinity champ ... (updated)

NASCAR NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Chris Buescher may have spoiled an upcoming surprise for racing fans on Tuesday when he posted an image of autograph stickers to his Instagram account.

"My hand hurts," he wrote with the image, which appears to be nine signed sheets of Panini America hologram stickers.

NASCAR has gone more than a year without trading cards after the release of last year's Press Pass set in late 2014. Press Pass closed last January after more than 20 years in the trading card industry leaving the sport without a trading card manufacturer and just one product for all of 2015.

Despite his championship, Buescher isn't really a household name that would be a fit in a multi-sport release, which would be a second reason to think that the signatures would be for a full NASCAR release.

Update: Blake Davidson, who is NASCAR's VP of Licensing and Consumer Products, said Wednesday morning that there isn't anything to announce regarding a trading card deal just yet.

"No signed agreements yet, but getting very close," Davidson said in an email. "We’ll definitely let you know when it’s done."

This year's Daytona 500, the premiere event in NASCAR, is set for Sunday.
