Crackin' Wax Ginter charity breaks should be worth the wait

The arrival of this year's Allen & Ginter baseball card set from Topps is nearly here -- a little later than usual thanks to COVID-19 -- but for breaker Christopher Lawson over at Crackin' Wax that just makes things even better.

Why?

The release is the key for his annual charity break that benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. It's in its seventh year and this time it gets a bunch of stuff into collectors' hands beyond the newest oddities in baseball card form. Proceeds from all of their Ginter breaks go there as do entries for a large lot of stuff going to one lucky collector -- the Charity Prize Pack. And more time (Ginter is normally a July release) means more stuff up for grabs.

This year's Charity Prize Pack will include a number of things all going to one collector. Entries to win are based on $5 donations and there is no limit to the number of entries a person can do. All money, minus Paypal fees and taxes, is donated.

"The prize pack is made up of items donated by corporate sponsors such as Topps and BCW, as well as great collectors from all around the world," Lawson said. "Some of these items include a graded 2016 Bowman First Chrome auto of Pete Alonso, a 2020 Topps Luminaries Bryce Harper Relic auto, and a sealed hobby box of 2020 Topps Series 2."

It's a lengthy list of stuff that can all be seen here and it also includes a Tyson Beck-signed Project 2020 card, a PSA 9 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. RC, unopened boxes, unopened packs, card supplies, graded stuff, autographed jerseys, signed balls and more from at least 20 different people and companies in the hobby. In past years, the efforts have topped the $3,000 mark and Lawson said their goal for this one is $5,000. Breaks will begin on Sept. 16 and the Prize Pack will be awarded on Sept. 24 after the final Ginter break.
