Quick, can you name the baseball card sets that New York Mets slugger and NLCS MVP Daniel Murphy first appears in?
If you can't, you're not alone, but that number is dwindling as it seems more and more collectors are picking off cards featuring the latest player to have The Big Apple buzzing.
His first MLB prospect cards appear in 2007 Bowman Chrome and 2007 Bowman Heritage, while his MLB Rookie Cards appear in 2009 releases. His RCs can be found in Bowman, Bowman Chrome, O-Pee-Chee, Topps, Topps 206, Allen & Ginter, Topps Heritage, Topps Chrome, Triple Threads, Upper Deck and Goodwin Champions.
Finding Murphy's autograph in certified form might be pretty tough right now as he's not been a heavy signer since making his big-league debut -- he has fewer than 50 certified autographed cards for collectors to choose from. His first auto can be found in 2008 Bowman and later in a few Upper Deck and Topps releases between 2009-2010 and 2012. Since 2013, he has only had certified autos found in Panini America brands.
His priciest card in recent days has been $350 paid for a 2007 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor limited to only five serial-numbered copies but lots of his 2009 and 2010 Triple Threads auto Relics have fetched as much as $100 per card. BGS 9.5 copies of his standard 2007 Bowman Chrome card have sold for as much as $100, while raw copies of the card have gone for $5 per card when sold in lots.
