Darkwing Duck shows drawing power with Kickstarter push

Never doubt the duck ... especially Darkwing Duck.

A Kickstarter campaign to bring back the entire collection of Darkwing Duck comics from the past all in one spot -- as well as first dibs at a reboot with a new series -- hit its goal in mere minutes this week. The total raised is pushing 10 times that right now with a number of advanced options available to collectors before the campaign ends in about two weeks.

Dynamite Entertainment is behind it all, which includes a trio of trade paperbacks as well as an omnibus-size and oversized 9-by-12 hardcover edition -- both being the Darkwing Duck Complete Comic Collection -- that revisit all of the past comics based on the early 1990s TV series. There are several other choices in the campaign, ranging from new comics, original sketches and other artwork -- nearly 30 options for fans to get a piece of the action.

"These editions of Darkwing Duck graphic novels are all exclusive to Kickstarter and will not be offered through other outlets," read the company's pitch. "That means every copy of these editions will be quite rare with modest print runs and very hard to find outside of your personal collections."

Darkly Dawns The Duck, Cowl & Fowl and Heroes & Villains will be the basic pieces of the Darkwing Duck Complete Comic Collection, while remarked signed and numbered versions will be limited to 500 copies with matching-number sets for those who choose that one. Also an option will be to pre-order the complete set of the variations for the No. 1 issue of the new, upcoming series -- this campaign isn't just about the old stuff. Original drawn art by Jae Lee is one option, a fine-art Giclee that's signed and remarqued is another and they're joined by original sketch covers, connected sketch covers and an already-hit ashcan bonus goal among others, which include special versions of the basic book, signed versions and more. Options start at just $20 and deluxe packages range as high as $700 for a four-issue connecting original sketch artwork cover collection.
