Derek Jeter's Hall of Fame status will not be a surprise when it's formally announced next week and it seems that this was almost a given if you read his original scouting report.

"MLB Shortstop. Blue Chip. A Yankee. A Five tool player will be a ML Star +5!!" it reads from back on April 8, 1992.

And it can be yours in the latest Goldin Auctions event with an opening bid of $50,000 -- and it's not even the biggest item up for grabs in the auction.

Written by Yankees scout Dick Groch when Jeter was playing for Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, Mich., in advance of the MLB Draft that June the piece is written in black ink with two carbon copies included -- one yellow and one pink. (Do we call those parallels?) It notes that the shortstop has "soft hands, good range, active feet. Very good runner … Flow on the bases shows power potential. Quick bat.”

Jeter went sixth in the draft that year behind Phil Nevin, Paul Shuey, B.J. Wallace, Jeffrey Hammonds and Chad Mottola -- only two of them later became MLB All-Stars and none, of course, will be joining Jeter in Cooperstown. The piece includes a letter from Groch and was obtained via Steiner Sports, which had a long-running autograph and merchandising deal with the Yankees star.

But it's really not the headliner here.

Also up for auction is the jersey Jeter wore for his MLB Debut is up for grabs. According to Steiner, it was originally worn by Bernie Williams in 1994 and was worn by Jeter during his 15-game promotion in 1995. It also carries an opening bid price of $50,000.

"Among many of the unique aspects of this jersey are the remnants of the No. 7 and black armband on the left sleeve in rememberance of the passing of Mickey Mantle in August of 1995," reads the Goldin description. "Signed by Jeter and inscribed 'Game Used 5-29-95 MLB Debut,' this jersey is one-of-a-kind on numerous levels and the most sought-after jersey of the Yankee legend's great career."

The auction house noted that Aaron Judge's MLB debut jersey sold for more than $160,000 in 2017 and "this one is is sure to sell well beyond that."
