BIG DEAL, BIG CARD
The Item: Aristides Aquino 2014 Bowman Chrome Prospects Superfractor autograph (1/1)
The Price: $29,999.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy has been demolishing baseballs at a record pace since Yasiel Puig was shipped to Cleveland and part of the reason you haven't seen a lot of him here on The Buzz is that there's simply not a lot of cardboard ink to go around for this new MLB star. His only MLB autographs are in 2014 Bowman Chrome -- that's it -- with the only other options being in 2015 Elite Extra Edition and 2015 Panini Contenders. He hasn't signed a thing since. He's pushing 60 autographed cards between the three releases but has just over 70 different baseball cards right now with Topps Now releases piling up of late. He'll be a 2020 Topps Series 1 Rookie Card

AN NFL STRATEGY SESSION?
The Item: Baker Mayfield 2019 Panini Luminance Bright Patch (6/49)
The Price: $85 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This pick isn't necessarily one about this particular card, though I think it's solid -- and it's a uniform number serial-number, which is why it's priced the way it is. To me, this time of year might just be the time to look where others aren't with a new crop of NFL rookies here and a number of 2018 standouts getting more time in. I'd might be looking both at some of last year's standouts on their second-year cards (particularly for underpriced ink) along with the name rookies who perhaps didn't blow up like this guy did last year but still have some solid potential on their teams. That could mean you land some singles at far lower prices last year with the potential for those gains to come right back with a few strong weeks. The 2018 wax can stiff-arm your wallet here and there, but there are a number of brands that can still deliver big for the money like Optic. Who might be this year's big from last year's rookie crop? Or this year's big from this year's crop? We'll find out (for real with real game action that counts) soon.

KEEPING IT REAL
The Item: Zion Williamson 2019 Panini Instant NBA Draft Night Black parallel (1/1)
The Price: $3,800 after 37 bids (five days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Forget the countless fake fake fake Zion Williamson cards out there, this was the first and this one was the rarest of that first offering. It's his 1/1 Draft Night card and it's currently on the block and scorching. The former Duke star will be the focus of this year's NBA rookie crop and it's cards like this one and his cards from The National promo packs that will fill the void between now and when Contenders Draft and NBA Hoops arrive not soon enough.

BIG CARD ... TOO BIG A PRICE?
The Item: Ronald Acuña Jr. 2018 Topps Update Cyan Printing Plate (1/1)
The Price: $29,999 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I don't want to say the price tag is too high on this one as it's one of just four printing plates for what's shaping up to be one of the key Rookie Cards of the last decade, but ... it's too high. (Right?) You never know, though as this 21-year-old Braves star will have membership in the 30-30 Club any day now and could be one of few clean members of the 40-40 Club if he really picks things up on the basepaths between now and the end of the season. Right now he leads the NL in games played, at-bats, runs and stolen bases and ranks fourth in homers and 10th in RBI while hitting .296. These are numbers that rival Mike Trout's second full season save for batting average (Trout hit .323), doubles and walks. So, we're not totally there yet, but I'll ask ... is he the next Trout when it comes to cardboard?

DEMOLITION MAN
The Item: Pete Alonso 2019 Topps Heritage High Number Real One red-ink auto (/70)
The Price: $2,499.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one has a hefty price tag attached but it's the lone copy of the card on eBay as this Mets rookie continues his assault on the rookie home run record book. He already owns the Mets and National League marks and up next are the only two rookies who have hit more before him -- Mark McGwire (49) and Aaron Judge (52). Alonso is third in the NL with 40 homers right now so there's a chance he could make a push with a hot streak and something like that down the stretch could intensify his card prices just as we're getting more to chew on. That's a fun combination for all types of collectors.
