eBay Buzz: Donruss Optic NFL previews look like scorchers, Bob Woodward's ink, key parallels & a nice one ending tonight

We’ll spotlight some items that have a story or just wow us with how much interest it might have — and we’re not just talking baseball cards, either.

PREVIEWS ARRIVE
The Item: Jordan Love 2020 Donruss Optic Preview Holo parallel RC
The Price: $67.66 after eight bids (six days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This year's Donruss release includes some high-end stuff like some impressive patch autos for NFL rookies -- stuff with four-figure asking prices on eBay -- but there are also a number of Optic Preview cards with parallels for key rookies that look to be commanding good money, too. This one is a new listing with a week to go and it's not alone having good demand so far. How they will hold up over time might depend on how many get pulled and posted -- and how long it takes for regular Optic to arrive. They'll definitely be tougher than the regular ones, too. If you're chasing key names, this might be one to look for first before they dry up.

STILL A MAJOR PLAYER
The Item: Bob Woodward 2012 Panini Golden Age Historic Signatures
The Price: $99.99 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This Watergate reporter and his partner Carl Bernstein changed the political landscape decades ago and made it into Golden Age on both signed and regular cards in 2012. Why does that matter? Just today, he's doing the same with excerpts from a new book, Rage, dropping today. Neither of them signed a boatload of autos -- Bernstein seems to be rarer -- and they aren't super-cheap cards (this one might be overpriced a little but it had the best scan). Why are they safe and smart buys? They aren't likely to show up in future sets ... so as the supply of these cards gets locked away in collections and boxes dry up (that's happening) those who want them and didn't get them might have to pay more.

FIVE OF A KIND
The Item: Juan Soto 2020 Topps Five Star jumbo jersey patch auto
The Price: $385 after 17 bids (seven hours remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a nice piece and it's a rare card (1/5) from a premium-priced brand that doesn't cough up these types of gems all that easily. It's heavy on the swatch but overall this is still a well-balanced card design-wise that packs all you need to see on there -- and that's not always the easiest thing to do with jumbo memorabilia swatches in play. It will be interesting to see how this one ends tonight.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
The Item: Ja Morant 2019-20 Panini Illusions NBA Ruby parallel (/199)
The Price: $249.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This brand is heavy on the foilboard -- not my favorite approach -- but the cards are crisp. Where you see that best is when there is parallel color involved and this is a nice example of that. I didn't check the price on this one to see if it's got higher or lower options out there, but either way it's a card that would get a look from me ... and it's not alone in that brand.
