RED-HOT RIGHT NOW 
The Item: Elly De La Cruz 2022 Bowman Heritage Chrome Red Refractor auto (/5)
The Price: $4,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The new arrival in MLB is just two games into his big-league career but his combination of speed and power -- and his worthiness to don Eric Davis' No. 44 (another speed and power guy there) in Cincinnati -- is getting the spotlight. He's already got a double, a triple and a homer along with three runs and two RBI while hitting .429 after two games. His Rookie Cards won't appear until 2024 releases -- he missed the deadline so his first Topps Now cards carry "call-up" labels -- but he's got plenty of cardboard. He's pushing 700 different card appearances in prospect releases with cards since 2021 and more than 200 of those are autographs, too. This one comes from the delayed Bowman Heritage but is arguably the right color for max appeal. I don't think that price will get met but it could ... he's a top talent that will be talked about until he comes back to reality. Well, if ... he hit .298 with 71 doubles, 22 triples, 49 homers, 190 RBI and 71 stolen bases in 263 MiLB games over four seasons. Baseball America had him ranked No. 8 in all of MiLB entering this season and he was also a top-10 guy via MLB and Baseball Prospectus rankings.

THAT LITTLE EXTRA
The Item: Corbin Carroll 2023 Topps Heritage Real One Autographs ... with inscription 
The Price: $423 after 18 bids (three days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I'd offer up advice to only overpay for Heritage autos of Hall of Famers in this one but then I spotted a card like this which is actually an interesting one. How many got this extra touch? I don't know -- maybe it was announced somewhere but I doubt it (or maybe an "influencer" was told) -- but I know that not all of them did ... so that makes this one worthy of a little more attention than a standard Carroll 'graph. Right now, from what I have seen, the Hidden Treasures inserts might be the hottest things to find in H this year ... but they're really not Heritage. The rookie autos are also getting attention but if I was buying for somebody I'd be picking off the key Hall of Famer ink here ... they have to be signed in lower volume than the young guys. And you can find them cheaper than this one will end up going for, too.

THE PHENOMENAL ONE ...

Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The seven-foot French basketball phenom hasn't even been drafted yet but his redemptions for his first autographed cards have been picked off the auction site left and right with some big prices and, well, even bigger expectations. I think there are some cautionary thoughts that should be raised here price-wise but there are also a lot of variables in play that we don't know yet ... like, how much more ink will he have and when? I don't doubt he'll have NBA cardboard when that time comes but I'm not sure on how much ink. NBA stuff would trump all ... but what if there isn't any for a year? Then prices like this might be very warranted and ... perhaps low? (I'm not dabbling on this one ... but it's here since a lot of you are.)

CREWS CONTROL
The Item: Dylan Crews 2023 Panini USA Baseball Stars & Stripes Collegiate National Team autographs 
The Price: $59.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: While some are buying up his case-hit level Kaboom! cards like there's no tomorrow -- the lowest sale I saw on a quick search was $150 -- I think you're better served chasing down ink here even if he's already got plenty of autos. Why? He's among a few candidates in this one to be the No. 1 pick in this year's MLB Draft. He's had USA Baseball cards since back in 2017 when he was in the 15U ranks -- more than 300 -- and more than a majority of those are autographs, too. Ink should be where it's at as "case hit" is only as good as how big the checklist is (only 10 players here) and how many cases there are. (They're not all alike out there in the world if you ask me.) I think ink will always be in demand if he takes his dominating play in the SEC into MLB with semi-promising results. Smaller auto cards could have bigger gains if there's added interest compared to "rarer" inserts that start with high prices as time goes on ... even if he already has a lot of ink.
