NEW CHROME
The Item: Ken Griffey Jr. 2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary Aqua Wave Refractor
The Price: $249.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I don't think this price is a solid one -- but as an early arrival on eBay it might get hit as this massive set (700 cards) could create challenges of easily finding any one name you're hunting, let alone a parallel of an iconic player with a solid photo and a team-appropriate parallel color. All those variables are why Junior bats lead-off here. The parallel rainbow isn't quite as vast as was originally planned for this year-later, delayed-but-now-here release, but it is one that will still create collector challenges if they dare to do it all. (I think some people might try sets given the convergence of Chrome and a Heritage-ish feel.)

ROSARIO RELICS, RIGHT?
The Item: Rosario Dawson (aka Ahsoka Tano) 2021 Topps Star Wars Masterwork Orange Sourced Fabric Relic (/10)
The Price: $429.99 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Yes, these are sourced fabric Relics -- so, no, Star Wars newcomer Rosario Dawson didn't actually wear it. It's from the same material used to make her wardrobe for this character in the series. Why? Historically, Star Wars' ownership wasn't really big on cutting up memorabilia to make cards in the products it approves ... but it has happened in some smaller instances. In this case, this approach isn't unheard of and the cards are still quite rare and that helps maintain value and demand. The regular version is not numbered but the four parallels are -- Purple (/50), Orange (/10), Black (/5) and 1/1 Gold are the only ones that exist. Consider how this high-end brand slowly gives out the hits (only four per box) and there's a good chance these will be tougher finds over the long haul even as more boxes are opened. (They aren't found often even when breaks are plentiful ... now imagine five or 10 years from now.)

Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This year's NFL Draft crop is going to be an interesting one out there for prospectors and flippers -- after all 2021 stuff is still showing up -- but this one is here not because I'm saying this Detroit Lions WR is gonna light it up ... it's just a reminder that this new release is upon us with the new crop of draft picks inside. It formally arrives tomorrow.

TIME TO LOOK ...
The Item: Austin Theory 2022 Panini Prizm WWE Blue Shimmer Prizm (/10)
The Price: $36 after nine bids (four days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This release's spotlight might not be as bright as it had been but it's still a landmark one and a release full of Rookie Cards and rarities for pretty much the full WWE roster of today (at time of release) and then many of the stars of the past. This is a rare card of a newer (not RC) name who should be moving up in the ranks soon based on on-screen -- he had a staredown with John Cena on Monday -- and this is a pretty nice card. I haven't really chased too much here but, like my advice line up top, it's time to look as Revolution has arrived and Select is on the way.

ICONIC IMAGES ...
The Item: Tim Duncan 2021-22 Panini Photogenic base card 
The Price: $6.99 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This release is loaded with strong photos and different visuals than what we often see -- and that makes this one worth a look. Like above, this isn't some specific pick of this card -- it's just a reminder that this set with its strong photos and plenty more inside is out there and it's one collecting option as a collector. (The dutch auction box release didn't seem necessary to me on this one ... and it feels like a release that could clean up at retail ... but I don't think that's happening. So singles it is for me.) There's a lot to like here if you like strong photographs -- and there will inevitably be some cards that stand out over time (and hold a little more value than you might think) because of strong visuals.
