eBay Buzz: Ken Griffey Jr. & Ken Burns get Ginter ink, Conan O'Brien hits SDCC, Rey Mysterio signs & an Albert Pujols steal?

JUNIOR IN GINTER
The Item: Ken Griffey Jr. 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter framed mini autograph
The Price: $499.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is one of a number of noteworthy autos in this year's Allen & Ginter release and in my mind the safest baseball card buys these days for the long term aren't the new-car priced slabbed Bowman Chrome debut prospect cards but rather the rarer obviously short-printed Hall of Fame caliber names in brands like this one and Topps Heritage. Once these dry up, those prices will inevitably get higher. You can't say that for the guys who haven't gotten their MLB careers going yet. Ginter is one of those releases with a big checklist and a definite volume difference between the standard autos and the rares yet nothing is numbered. That helps add to the mystery over time. Plus, that auto just looks good here.

The Item: Conan O'Brien 2019 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Funko Pop! toys
The Price: $799.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a pre-sale for what will be one high-profile show exclusive as the late-night host has been known to plug these bad boys on TV hard and also give a limited number of them away via the program, too. That doesn't seem to hurt the demand that much based on some of the auctions I've seen. This year's lineup includes O'Brien as Iron Man, Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, Pennywise from It and Woody from Toy Story. None of these scream at me as ones I'd need, especially at the price, but I know that there will be tons of interest in some of them.

BOOYAKA BOOYAKA ...
The Item: Rey Mysterio 2019 Topps WWE Summerslam blue autographs (/50)
The Price: $79.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This release is a colorful one with a relatively standard autograph checklist -- most of the names you should expect are here -- but there's one we haven't seen much of at all in WWE card sets. The autographs for this ring veteran are his first in an official WWE release in years and they dramatically increase his ink volume. This future Hall of Famer has fewer than 25 certified autographs in any sets (he was last seen in Leaf releases) and nine of those are in this release thanks to parallels and printing plate autos. His standard card is not numbered but there are also Silver (/25) Gold (/10) and 1/1 Red to go with the plates. It's all on-card ink here, too. Cases of this one are seemingly dirt cheap right now, so a pull like this one could feel even better when you land one.

BARGAIN-HUNTERS' PICK
The Item: Albert Pujols 2019 Donruss Optic Autographs Gold (/5)
The Price: $9.50 after four bids (four days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This release is loaded with on-card autos of many rookies and prospects in a number of colors, but there are a number of future Hall of Famers (and current Hall of Famers) to be found in this one with some true rarity like this one. I'm not sure how often a Pujols autograph opens with such a low amount but if you simply want to own the ink of this future Hall of Famer on a safe card that has very little competition (there are only four like it ... and who knows how many will never be pulled from a pack), this is an auction to watch. Sure seems like there could be a good bargain here in a few days. We'll see.

ANOTHER UNIQUE AUTO ...
The Item: Ken Burns 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter full-size autograph 
The Price: $89.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This year's Ginter set has a few full-size autograph cards and this one is a card that's surprisingly taken a long time to happen. This documentarian has taken on a number of subjects in long-form series and his 1994 epic Baseball is one that is a classic told via nine innings over 18 hours and it was updated with a 10th inning -- one that documents massive changes for the game from the 1994 strike up to 2009. That update arrived back in 2010 and it was rather comprehensive showing the good and the bad in that time. There also has been chatter from Burns himself about a new update. Perhaps a cardboard presence is a precursor to that sometime soon? The original Baseball series even had a card set back in the day -- with a few surprises -- but he never had a card. I'd expect the prices on these will come down with time -- but they're also probably not high-volume autos, either. This appears to be his only presence in Ginter this year -- no standard cards.
