eBay Buzz: New Donruss Optic NFL autographs, Antonio Gates' gamer, key Superfractor & how 'bout this Hall of Famer ink?

We’ll spotlight some items that have a story or just wow us with how much interest it might have — and we’re not just talking baseball cards, either.

AN EXAMPLE OF SIMPLE EXCELLENCE
The Item: Kyler Murray 2019 Donruss Optic Silver Holo autograph (/99)
The Price: $399.99 Buy-It-Now 
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This isn't the priciest card out there from this new release and it's not the cheapest one, either, but it's an example of the solid stuff that can be found and will be in demand in the immediate future as well as the coming years as the standard stuff from a few brands and their key hits are seemingly in more demand than ever. Shorter translation: Optic rookie autos are popular and Murray had a promising rookie season. The design here is a super-simple one -- almost on the too-simple side -- and yet it works as it's all about a photo and the color of the parallel versions if you happen to find them. Murray is one of a few guys you should look for here -- and there are some solid veteran autos to be found, too.

END OF THE LINE
The Item: Antonio Gates 2013 Absolute Football Absolute Patches Nike swoosh game-used card (/2)
The Price: $60 after one bid (one day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This future Hall of Famer officially called it a career on Tuesday, retiring at age 39 after 15 years with the Chargers. He didn't play this season but finished his career with 955 catches for 11,841 yards and 116 TDs. The scoring is an NFL record for a tight end and he's one of only two to reach the 100 plateau. He didn't even play college football -- he was a basketball player at Kent State -- and appears on only four Rookie Cards from back in 2003, Rookies & Stars, Skybox LE (/99), Sweet Spot (/675) and Upper Deck Finite (/750). That explains why I nothing came to mind for him first when I thought of his past stuff but then this nice piece presented itself on a search. It's a rare pull from a long-running brand and a box that's actually still readily available since that year's RC class just isn't amazing now. It's still a fun break, though, in terms of what it can potentially deliver -- it's among my favorite NFL brands, too -- with a hit in every pack so in my mind even a bad year isn't all that bad. (Especially when things like this are possible.)

HEADED TO THE HALL ... 
The Item: Jimmy Johnson 2016 Panini Flawless Now & Then Signatures Sapphire autograph (/10)
The Price: $79.99 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: How 'bout time? This former Dallas Cowboys coach got the Canton call this weekend live on Fox and the rest of the class along with the other early announced inductee, Bill Cowher, will be known soon. Johnson's got a pretty decent amount of cardboard for a coach -- nearly 250 different cards -- and more than half of them are certified autographs. (Meanwhile, his Rookie Card is in the dirt-cheap 1989 Pro Set release.) This one is from a premium brand and is on the cheaper side if you ask me. He's got a few solid cards from various times in his coaching career out there to choose from.

RARE HIT FROM HERITAGE ...
The Item: Joey Bart 2019 Bowman Heritage Superfractor Autograph (1/1)
The Price: $9,999 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Bowman Heritage is back though you might not have seen it many places since it was initially only offered to collectors via Topps.com and before that initially only to members of the 582 Montgomery Club. This newest edition is a small release that includes a Chrome component (two per pack, 48 per box) and autographs, too. This is a notable prospect in this one and it's his best card -- so there's your justification for that price tag, though I'm not sure it will (yet) get hit at that hefty of a mark. I was always a fan of Bowman Heritage in its previous incarnations but the design of this one -- the 1953 Bowman design but with modern touches -- just isn't among my favorites. (I'm game for sequels, though.) There is an autograph in every box and you get a boatload of parallels, Refractors and prospect cards ... plenty of reasons to dig in.
