LATE-SEASON MAGIC
The Item: Tua Tagovailoa 2020 Panini Chronicles Score Rookie Red Zone Autographs (/20)
The Price: $989.99 Buy-It-Now 
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a big card -- on Optichome stock -- from a new arrival on the hobby side recently and it's a sample of a number of fun and expensive cards that can be found in the season catch-all NFL release that combines several brand names into one. It's been a long time since I found new NFL out in the retail wild (the 5 a.m. campers win) -- so much so I thought this was from the release giving us a new go at 2021 draft picks in their school colors. (That's still to come.) Nope, it's the release giving us another crack at the strong rookie crop that was ... in new NFL gear images with a little less Photoshop than during the season. It seems like it wasn't that long ago I was ripping into Chronicles Draft Picks boxes for these same guys ... but the NFL version is perhaps in a little stronger demand from more collectors. I've been a big fan of Chronicles for pretty much all sports and formats for a couple years now ... it's worth the look.

ALL ABOUT THE ITEM, RIGHT?
The Item: Kaley Cuoco autographed The Cheesecake Factory box
The Price: $300 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: When it comes to chasing autographs, there can be a couple philosophies -- convenient commodity items (cards, photos or equipment for sports) that are easier to sell based on what they are or a unique item that can perhaps command more and be one-of-a-kind ... or at least not the commodified stuff. A cool item can make for a strong price if it's unique and this seems to be just that to me ... The Big Bang Theory's Penny (aka Kaley Cuoco) who worked at The Cheesecake Factory autographed a box from the chain. The listing doesn't have third-party authentication but there's a photo of her signing items right there with this piece in the image and more info with the listing -- it was signed Aug. 30, 2017, at Universal Studios Hollywood to be precise. Why did it catch my eye? Well, her auto isn't more than a few squiggles ... so I think a cool item might be more interesting here. Most autograph listings for her are photos ... though this is not a new listing. It's pricey but nowhere near as expensive as one of her certified autograph cards. Plus, a percentage of this one goes to charity.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
The Item: LaMelo Ball 2020-21 Donruss Rookie Card (CSG 9.5)
The Price: $107.50 after 15 bids (less than a day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I don't do a ton of price-checking for the new hot sellers in a lot of instances -- so I don't know the market price for this card off the top of my head or whether this is a good or bad price right now (it has time to go) -- but I do know that there seems to be a ton of CSG stuff out there from the new grading company for sports cards. (Certified Collectibles Group has been a leader for grading comics and coins for a long time but its card company opened in February.) Whether collectors (or the flippers selling them graded cards) could accept a new player so wholeheartedly seems to be answered at least in part with the volume of stuff presently out there. CSG seems to be a pretty tough yet realistic grader based on what I have seen so far and that might make it an ideal candidate right now. Why? Other companies are backed up substantially ... and probably holding a lot of cards like this one. Can't buy/sell them if they aren't slabbed yet.

UFC'S PRIZM DEBUT PACKS PUNCH
The Item: Amanda Nunes 2021 Panini Prizm UFC Champion Signatures Gold Prizm (/10)
The Price: Check out how much this card sold for here
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There are a lot of unusually high-priced Prizm sales out there -- probably a few variables behind that right now -- but I opted for one that's a tough pull, a substantial name and a price that's stiff but believable since it's rare. All in all, most signs indicate that Prizm UFC is strong right now with retail boxes still to come. (I have seen photos but not in-person just yet.) The scorching prices on hobby boxes are perhaps keeping singles prices high as people will opt to fight over key cards they want on the auction block vs. ripping to chase, but cards like this one are going to be strong no matter what -- both now and down the line as this one is a landmark release for UFC collectors.

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU
The Item: Felicity Jones & Alan Tudyk Topps Star Wars Authentics autographed 11-by-14 photo 
The Price: $51.99 after three bids (two days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This dual-signed jumbo is one of the potential surprises found in The Saga Collection that formally arrives tomorrow giving Star Wars collectors another shot at the signed photos that were left over when Topps' Star Wars Authentics division was closed as part of the COVID reality that autograph shows that weren't going to be happening. Saga Collection boxes are high-end but include at least 20 signed fully authenticated photos -- both 8-by-10s and 11-by-14s in the mix -- with single- and dual-autos possible. Want to know who made the cut? Look at the image in the store below ... everybody shown on the box can be found in those (just not every time).
