eBay Buzz: Some superstar QB Rookie Cards, impressive autographs -- and a Ja Morant misprint capture my attention

THE RIGHT PARALLEL COLOR
The Item: Patrick Mahomes 2017 Donruss Red Press Proof -- Rookie Card parallel
The Price: $600 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Everything for Mahomes in 2017 is kind of a big deal and given how the last two seasons have gone there's no reason to stop looking -- either as singles or in wax form. I picked this one because I managed to pull one and it graded a BGS 9.5 -- not an easy task for paper stock -- and I think it's the best more-basic version color-wise (perfect for the Chiefs) and then also in its obscurity as its a retail-only parallel. Oh, and have you seen some of the prices paid for slabbed versions of this card? (A PSA 10 recently sold for $2,300 and raw copies have topped $500.) The photo here is a good one with his helmet off so you can see his face much like many oldschool RCs of legends from the past. He's already a legend of today. I'm not saying this card is under-priced -- raw, it probably isn't -- but if it ends up grading well? That's a solid long-term piece.

The Item: Ken Griffey Jr. 2020 Topps Archives Signature Series Retired (2019 Allen & Ginter) auto 1/1
The Price: $3,995 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This price is a high one but there has been a lot of demand for this 1990s legend in recent years and his ink on a  1/1 card with a classic photo should generate some serious cash. This is a buyback with oomph though that auto isn't perfect on that big downstroke ... but it's still a card I would have dropped a few crazy words over had I pulled it. (In a good way.)

HOW 'BOUT THIS BLASTER PULL?
The Item: Mike Trout 2020 Topps Archives 1964 Topps Giant Autograph
The Price: $1,499.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I was a bit surprised to see these are not serial-numbered and that makes me wonder whether this guy in particular might be far more rarer than people think. Why? He's not a cheap autograph for Topps to put out there in bulk and these cards are found as box-toppers in Archives blaster boxes this year. You get a pack in every box with most being standard cards but those who beat the odds finding ink. This is one of those autos I wouldn't wait to see if more pop up and pop up cheaply. I have no inside info here but I'd bet that there were just a handful signed.

ONE TO WATCH
The Item: Joe Burrow 2020 Panini Certified Red Freshman Fabric RPA (/75)
The Price: $310 after 18 bids (four days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The clock is ticking for when we might see the No. 1 overall pick play -- and depending on how that goes will probably go the trajectory of his cardboard's gains. I say it that way because there will always be interest in his stuff for a while until we know how life will go in Cincy. (Think about past QBs ... it's not been that pretty.) This card is a striking one, though, so that's why it made the cut here. I'm a sucker for those three-color Bengals swatches, too.

PRICEY MISTAKE?
The Item: Ja Morant 2019-20 Panini Chronicles Recon Teal parallel with missing foil (no name misprint) RC
The Price: $15,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This card's BIN price shouldn't be hit -- I'll say it ... it's not worth it -- but there should be some thought to an oddity like this with this key rookie's cardboard (just not $15,000 of thought if you ask me). This one simply missed the foil stamping stage and I'd guarantee that all other cards on the sheet did, too. How many sheets? Well, that's the question. This is the kind of oddity I'd get slabbed and then put a nutty price on for an eBay listing and then see what kinds of offers pop up. (A grade or even an authentic slab would add to the appeal and affirm the obvious on its label.) Long-term if Morant turns out to be an all-time great an oddball card like this could command some big dollars. Not sure if it can compete with the other rarities and high-end stuff to come right now, though.
