eBay Buzz: Unreal Zion Williamson lot sells soon, Tom Brady's rare Bucs debut, Anthony Fauci, Kate Beckinsale & hot MLB

PICK UP YOUR JAW ... IT'S OVER THERE 👉👉
The Item: Zion Williamson 2019-20 Panini Prizm NBA lot of 23 cards ... all BGS 10s
The Price: $54,900 after 89 bids (one day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one is an interesting lot ... first in the sheer volume and the quality. Then you wonder ... why might they be cashing out? (Or, is this just their "junky" copies, meaning they held all of their parallels and autos?) The timing here is interesting -- I'd think just as Williamson or the NBA returns might be a better time for this one, though there are a lot of different options for his Rookie Cards out there. This one will inevitably still be one of the most-iconic ones from this crazy year ... so this price should move before it ends and I'd suspect that the lot will get broken up over time. (Right?) Or, perhaps the buyer will just sit on it and flip it again later? Oh, and if you're wondering, just 517 copies of this card have checked in at a 10 and only 25 have topped them out of 9,199 graded by BGS so far this year.

THE NEW RIGHT-COLOR PARALLEL?
The Item: Tom Brady 2020 Panini Luminance Red parallel (/25)
The Price: $142.50 after nine bids (one day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This release is the home of the first Tampa Bay Bucs cards for the future Hall of Famer and so far there's been plenty of demand for all versions with supply on eBay still to come, too. (Basic versions will get and are already getting cheaper.) But the rarer ones? Well, they are what they are -- and only 24 other copies of this card exist. There are just eight versions to find for this card -- the base, Gold (/299), Blue (/99), Green (/75), Orange (/50), Red (/25), Pink (/10) and a 1/1 Platinum. That's it. There will be more to come but there will only be one first -- and players in unfamiliar places always stand out as different and unique pieces. Of all the colors, I think this one might be the most-appealing for Bucs fans.

A NAME IN THE NEWS
The Item: Dr. Anthony Fauci autographed MLB baseball (JSA cert)
The Price: $3,999.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: You might know his name from the medical realm and headlines these days, but this pricey piece (I'm not sure that mark will get hit) arrives here as he's the thrower of the Washington Nationals' ceremonial first pitch -- before a non-capacity crowd -- in their season-opener t0 come soon. He's the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and has been through plenty of problems since 1984. Despite that longevity, methinks he might not have signed many baseballs ... right?

PRICEY PULL
The Item: Gleyber Torres 2020 Topps Finest Flashback Orange Refractor auto (/10)
The Price: $105 after two bids (six days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: (Note: Originally listed as a $1,500 BIN but since changed to auction.) This one is perhaps underpriced given the player, his potential, the popularity of the release and this card's scarcity. Also consider that there may be a boatload of these boxes in flippers' hands unopened since it was sold to a select group -- initially only to 582 Montgomery Club members and then to those who won a lottery for the rights to a box at its original $55 price. (Buzz wasn't on the list, but I'll survive.) That box start price was affordable as autos -- just standard ones -- start at one in six boxes and the only guaranteed find in a box is a single standard Refractor. The stingy odds and limited distribution combined with people sitting on boxes could mean good things for the market on key singles that do get found. Plus, there are people out there who like the earlier Finest designs a little more than today's versions. There could be extra long-term appeal here, which isn't always easily said with new releases in a splintered and niche-filled overall card world. This release could appeal to a few groups of collectors so all key/rare cards should get a look.

A REMINDER ...
The Item: Kate Beckinsale 2012 Leaf Pop Century Signatures (BGS 9.5/10)
The Price: $445 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: She appeared in three years of Pop Century releases on low-volume cards -- under 40 in all -- and I really don't remember seeing any of them before. (I probably wasn't looking, but it's a solid piece of cardboard.) The price here? It didn't surprise me as big names with few appearances can command good cash because what is out there is in low volume and there are few other options out there for collectors to grab. Now, why is this card here? As a reminder that a new edition of this hits-only product is coming soon with a number of new signers awaiting collections. Sure, not all autos will be big -- just like anything else -- but when you land a big auto you should know. And, despite the urge to flip and cash in now, there should be some serious thought about holding elite names to move them later if needed.
