eBay Buzz Weekly Update: Anthony Davis, Baker Mayfield, WWE's Ricochet, 2019 Topps & one rare Rickey Henderson gem

HIGHLY RATED ROOKIE
The Item: Baker Mayfield 2018 Donruss Optic Gold Rated Rookie Autograph (/10) (BGS 9.5/10)
The Price: $2,799.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The No. 1 pick in last year's NFL Draft delivered a record-setting season for a rookie with 27 passing touchdowns for the Cleveland Browns ... now imagine if he had played every game this season. He was clearly a spark for a team that went winless in 2017 and tied its best record posted since 2007. There are a few young stars on this team that could have hobby potential down the line and he's at the top of the list. It should be interesting to see what the Browns can add in the draft, too.  This card is an elite pull -- good luck landing one from a pack -- and there will inevitably be growing demand for his rookie-year stuff if he builds upon this almost Rookie of the Year campaign. (Saquon Barkley probably gets it in my mind.) Over time, I think Mayfield has more cardboard potential with team success.

EARLY ARRIVALS
The Item: Mark McGwire 2019 Topps 150 Years Gold Medallion parallel card (/50)
The Price: $4.27 after four bids (three days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: We're in the midst of the calm before the storm as the 2019 baseball card season takes the field officially beginning on Wednesday with the hobby-shop arrival of 2019 Topps Series 1. Retail aisles can be stocked at any time and a handful of early auctions are under way on eBay and this is just one of the affordable highlights. Blasters will be the home to these cards and there are a few parallels and a totally different set also in play so these may not end up being the easiest of pulls. This isn't the biggest of cards in this release -- it's simply an early one.

AN ELITE-LEVEL SPECIMEN
The Item: Rickey Henderson 1980 Topps Rookie Card (BVG 9.5)
The Price: $17,999 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a specimen of a specimen for a card at the end of the vintage years that consistently demands attention even in grades lower than this one. Out of 5,345 copies of this card graded by BGS, just nine -- nine! -- have received a BGS 9.5 and only one has gotten a 10. Even BVG 9s are relatively tough here with just 162 out there. BVG 8s are the most-common grade art 1,129 copies with 7.5 right behind it at 988. The "standard" 8.5 checks in at just 688 copies. This card is in triple digits on the pop report down to 4.5 and a BVG 4 will be right there with them after five more get slabbed. This is a card that has been counterfeited in the past, so graded copies are the way to go here if you haven't yet landed "The Man of Steal."

A HIGH-FLYING SCORCHER
The Item: Ricochet 2018 Topps WWE Series 2 Silver Autograph (/25)
The Price: $68 (sold after 33 bids)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a rare instance where what you see here is an already-sold card. Why? There are simply none active on eBay because they've all been selling pretty well -- parallel or not. This is the first autographed WWE card for this 30-year-old star and this Silver isn't even the biggest of them when it comes to recent sales. A Gold (/10) sold for $178.50, a Blue (/50) sold for $75 and his standard autos (/99) have sold for as much as $65. That's pretty impressive across the board and reflective of his unique high-flying repertoire -- and also of the fact that he's a veteran who has worked around the world in a career that began when he was a teen. Those prices are very strong for a card from an affordable brand that delivers at least one autograph per box.

WHERE WILL HE GO?
The Item: Anthony Davis 2012-13 Panini Immaculate Collection Rookie Patch Auto (/99)
The Price: $4,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: He's been one of the NBA's best big guys -- and overall players -- for years and he's averaging a career-high 29.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this season. Most importantly? He's demanded a trade. All of his key first-year autos have hefty asking prices and they could get crazier if The Brow ends up on a dominating big-market team. Most are being sold graded but this one was not. It looked very clean in scans and that's why you see it here.
