eBay Buzz Weekly Update: One weird error, a 'used' Home Run Derby base, Jane Goodall, Axl Rose and a legendary bat knob

We’ll spotlight some items that have a story or just wow us with how much interest it might have — and we’re not just talking baseball cards, either.

The Item: 1993 Upper Deck SP Michael Tucker-Marc Newfield "Mona Lisa" error card
The Price: You have to see it to (not) believe it.
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: One man's worthless printer's scrap is another's "Inverted Jenny" and that's a reference to a legitimately valuable error version of a postage stamp. In this case? Well, unless there's a huge Michael Tucker fan out there this is somebody wanting to (tongue in cheek) "test the market" or get some potential viral attention with a weird auction listing. (Mission accomplished.) Now, if it was a Derek Jeter card? Somebody would be buying ... no doubt about it.

The Item: MLB Authenticated 2010 MLB All-Star Game Home Run Derby-used base 
The Price: $700 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Think about this one ... this is third base from the final round of the 2010 MLB All-Star Game's Home Run Derby. The event was won by David Ortiz and this piece was there and pulled from the field, stickered and injected into the memorabilia blood stream. But, again, think about this one ... a Home Run Derby ... base. I actually kind of want it for other collecting reasons ... even though nobody but the grounds crew touched it. Meanwhile, you can find gamers for around $150, sometimes less with some hunting.

INK FROM AN ANIMAL EXPERT
The Item: Jane Goodall signed and authenticated December 1995 issue of National Geographic
The Price: $239 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The death of Koko, a gorilla that learned sign language as part of a science experiment, got me wondering if there was anything out there for another famous name among that area, Jane Goodall. The 84-year-old's chimpanzee expert's autograph is one that can command some strong prices if on a nice piece as seen with this one, though you can find signed books for less. NOVEMBER (ERR JUNE) REIGN
The Item: PSA 10 2013 Topps Allen & Ginter Axl Rose autograph
The Price: $1,420.25 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There were a lot of people who didn't think these cards from Allen & Ginter would ever be signed -- or the ones also found via redemption in Topps Archives -- and there might have been some people at Topps who thought that, too, as they allegedly had to be reprinted more than once to suit the notoriously capricious singer. It took a lot of patience before collectors could say "you could be mine" with these cards, leaving the redemptions to be dirt cheap at one point. (Mine? I got it for about $150 if I remember correctly.) There are just two slabbed Rose autos on eBay right now and the other one is carrying a normal price tag of $995. The only raw Ginter? It's at $202 with plenty of time to go. Since they were redemptions, you can't just rip wax until you find one (if you can find the wax), so what's out there is out there. And I'd highly doubt he'll ever be found in a pack of cards again. Then again, Chinese Democracy was released so ... you never know.

A LEGENDARY BAT KNOB
The Item: 2014 Panini National Treasures Roberto Clemente bat knob 1/1 
The Price: $20,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There's a chance you can find a full bat for a lower price but the number of bats available -- or at least on the market -- for this Hall of Famer likely won't be growing over time. Meanwhile, prices for those that are sold seem to be commanding more, according to PSA at that link. No matter what, this is an impressive baseball card for a legendary player who made an impact on the field and beyond.
