GREEN MONSTER
The Item: Tim Duncan 1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Emerald (/10) (PSA 6)
The Price: $15,500 after 36 bids (eight days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one isn't mint -- they rarely are -- but that doesn't matter as this one is a rare pull from a line that people absolutely love and will pay dearly for especially when it's a key card of a Hall 0f Fame lock. This is a parallel of his Rookie Card with the PMGs being so condition-sensitive that only one is graded higher by PSA. I dabbled with the NBA much more back in this time but this entire brand just struck me as too kiddy-looking -- though I was a kid and I apparently never pulled any of these. Now they're among the biggest money-makers of any recent cardboard without autos or slabs. Don't believe me? Check out the link below and then also check completed auctions.

TOPPS HERITAGE IS COMING
The Item: Nolan Ryan 1970 Topps (PSA 10)
The Price: $59,999 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: A new year of Topps Heritage will be upon us within the month and I figured it might be fun to revisit the 1970 Topps set in advance. There aren't any meaningful errors and variations in the 1970 set so it's high-grade Hall of Famer cards that get the nod. Just three copies of this third-year Ryan card have grabbed this grade and according to this auction listing the most-recent sale of this card was at $41,000. Heritage will likely include some new cards of this legend -- probably some autographs with a similar look to this card, maybe even using the same image -- but it will take a few years of historic marinating for them to command this kind of money. Could it even be possible? Well, the print runs of 2000s cards aren't like those of the 1980s or 1990s so there could be crazy money in our futures for those who decided to sit on cases or key cards in high grade. Those wanting to revisit our new cards of today in, say, 20 years won't have an easy time. That said, now's almost the time to dig in.

ONE BRAND TO WATCH
The Item: Baker Mayfield 2018 Panini One Rookie Autograph (/49)
The Price: $167.50 after 18 bids (one day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one is one to watch as the No. 1 overall pick is just one of the big possible pulls in this debut brand that packs one encased autographed card per box. Buzz doesn't do a lot of high-end chase brands, but this is one I should have gotten in on from the beginning as it looks like it's delivering pretty well. (Box prices are already loftier than when it arrived last week and Panini has announced that it's sold out from the company, so I'm not alone on that thought.) You can land some of the biggest names in the game today as well as big ink from the past, too, so it's not surprising. This one is simple -- no patches involved -- but I still expect it to pick up speed before its over. Mayfield has just 27 different cards in this release -- all autographed -- and 20 of them include patches. The few that aren't patches could be the sleepers of the bunch if you ask me.

ARTBALL ARTIST'S AUTOGRAPH
The Item: Monty Sheldon 2010 Topps National Chicle Jimmie Foxx artist autograph card
The Price: $60.88 Buy-It-Now (cheaper if bought on COMC.com)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This artist is responsible for the Artballs found in Piece of the Game Baseball Authenticated Masterpieces coming soon. Sheldon has been doing the baseball pieces for years now via commissions via his personal site and as part of his promotions for his work has made his own cards. In this case, he was one of the artists who helped bring National Chicle back to life about a decade ago and among the possible finds there are artist autographs. Those were rarer pulls at just 10 copies per card, so you'll still likely pull player ink. This one is a card of Hall of Famer which is why I gave it my nod here. You can find his ink on his own cards a little more affordably if you want to find it -- there are even paintings and a different Artball on eBay right now -- hit that link.

OPTICHROMED SILVER BARGAIN?
The Item: Luka Doncic 2018-19 Donruss Optic Silver Prizm Rated Rookie autograph
The Price: $777.77 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I know Prizm gets a lot of the attention, but Optic seems like it's a brand that can deliver just as interestingly and just as colorfully -- and the ink is on-card. This one seems like a bargain for the biggest rookie so far this season. 'Nuff said.
