eBay Buzz Weekly Update: Tom Brady's Rookie Cards, Paige's autographs, Auston Matthews' Young Guns & even more

HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW?
The Item: Tom Brady 2000 Bowman Chrome Refractor (RC parallel) BGS 9.5
The Price: $19,499 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Think this price is crazy? It is, but it isn't -- check out that link below. You should know by now that Brady has won yet another Super Bowl ring after Sunday's snoozefest in Atlanta and you need to know that his Rookie Cards are easily some of the priciest football cards out there in top condition and in slabs. This one isn't the flashiest of them -- other big ones have autographs and command much more cash -- but this is one (non-Refractor) that I managed to pull from a pack back in the day so it gets my pick here. The pop report for this particular version shows 28 others in this grade and just one getting a 10. Just 207 Refractors have been slabbed by BGS while mine is pushing 3,000 with 103 BGS 10s and two getting a BGS Black perfect 10. Some of Brady's RCs have been faked, so slabbed is the way to go unless you want to pay big bucks to chase wax (not easy to find anyway). He's expensive but there's no doubt that he's atop the mountain right now. Is he a safe buy? Traditional thought might say that he's too pricey to get in on right now, but when Brady is the top guy in NFL history there should continue to be more attention and speculation money pumped into his cards from beyond the typical collecting base.

ABSOLUTELY IN DEMAND
The Item: Paige, Mandy Rose & Sonya DeVille 2018 Topps WWE Then Now Forever Triple Auto (/6)
The Price: Sold for $529.88 after 22 bids
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This faction known as Absolution no longer exists on WWE TV screens as Paige has retired due to permanent (and very serious) spinal issues at age 26, but there are a few reasons that this already-ended auction appears here. First, this rarity is the first autographed cards for Paige since her only autos back in 2015 -- perhaps some leftover stickers -- and she sells very, very well across the board. (You'll see more than one pricey unsigned printing plate for her among completed auctions.) Second, she's the subject of a forthcoming comedy based on the real-life story of her wrestling parents and brothers back in England, Fighting With My Family, that arrives in theaters later this month. That should add even more interest atop what's already out there for what few key cards she has. Third, her wrestling family on this card also is a relatively young duo figuring pretty well in top storylines with their own dedicated fan bases. This is a tough, tough pull from boxes/cases that are still quite affordable and findable. You can't say that for other WWE boxes from the last five years.

A SKETCH & MORE
The Item: Steve Yzerman 2013 SportKings Body Of Work jumbo jersey sketch card 1/1
The Price: $69.95 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This seems pretty affordable for what's a jumbo game-used memorabilia piece with a one-of-a-kind sketch attached, especially when you consider it's an NHL legend. I chose this one because it's a clean sketch with some detail (others out there might not be as clean) and it's a type of card I don't yet have in my own collection. Why? There just aren't that many sets like this one out there. SportKings can deliver plenty of surprises -- check the two links below for examples of that. Check 'em out ...

A SOXY BOOK CARD
The Item: Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice & Jacoby Ellsbury 2012 Topps Triple Threads 1/1 patch booklet
The Price: $1,999 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Want to do some window-shopping? Hit that link below and you'll see why Triple Threads keeps on coming each year. This book is a solid piece and it's nowhere near the craziest creation you'll find from this brand's past editions. This one features two Hall of Famers and a past favorite (well, at least before he went to the Yankees) and some solid patches on at least two of them (it looks like pant piping on the third).

WILL THE DOLLARS SPARK DEMAND?
The Item: Auston Matthews 2016-17 Upper Deck RC (PSA 10)
The Price: $1 after one bid (six-plus days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This top-tier rookie just got paid as the Maple Leafs delivered a five-year, $58.17 million contract extension today that pays him the second-highest yearly amount in the NHL. Topping him? Only Connor McDavid. This new deal will buy him plenty of Timbits but not as many copies of his go-to Rookie Card. This one just hit the block as an auction, so it should be one to watch to see if it tops the Buy-It-Nows (there are plenty, $250 and up in this grade) or whether it proves to be a bargain. He's locked in place in Toronto now, so fans could be even more rabid about this one than they might have been not knowing whether he'd end up elsewhere.
