RED-HOT SAPPHIRES
The Item: Adley Rutschman 2019 Bowman Chrome Draft Sapphire Edition Red Refactor (/5) — BGS 9.5
The Price: $4,500 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This card of the No. 1 draft pick is just one of the monsters that can be found in boxes of this online-only released parallel version of one of the most-popular brands on the planet -- and this white-hot release is one that's quickly running its way toward the top of the parallel lists, too, as its slightly non-traditional release is one that a lot of people just don't see in their typical shop spots. Only the 1/1 Padparadscha (a type of immensely rare Sapphire) is a tougher pull than this shade and it's one of several parallel types you can find in these small but loaded boxes.

TIME TO LACE 'EM UP ...
The Item: Zion Williamson 2019-20 Panini Immaculate College Sneak Peek shoe card (/8)

Why it’s Buzz-worthy: We all know that tonight's the night for the arrival of the NBA's No. 1 draft pick and biggest deal on cardboard right now, Zion Williamson, and there's no doubt that Panini Prizm and all of its colorful parallels are the biggest chase of them all right now (until the super-premium stuff hits) but there are some other cards among the many real ones out there that are interesting in different ways. This is a shoe card that showcases a piece of a retro styled Air Jordan that Williamson wore before it was chopped up and put into a card. It's not cheap, but there are seven others like it -- though I'd bet not many others include this full logo. With a big debut tonight there will be more people looking for his cardboard and we might even see bigger prices than ever paid for some of them.

OFF-SEASON HUNTING
The Item: Ronald Acuña Jr. 2018 Topps Chrome Sapphire Edition Autograph -- PSA 10
The Price: $1,299 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: I've said it before elsewhere, but this is the time of year to be scouting big names from last year who have even bigger potential both on the field and on cardboard this year. This one is a high-end example of that  from another red-hot release. Unlike the Bowman Draft Sapphire boxes, there is ink to be found in some past Topps Chrome Sapphire boxes and this is one of the bigs from a premium release. I'm priced out on cards like this one, but it's an example of where big names, hot brands and huge potential are re-shaping the cardboard landscape all of the time these days -- and are a reminder of how getting in early on releases is the best way to go if you can. Rare stuff from lower-end brands can make big moves, too, when players perform -- it's not just about high-end stuff.

HOW 'BOUT THEM LOW-END RCS?
The Item: Patrick Mahomes 2017 Donruss Red Press Proof (Rookie Card parallel) 
The Price: $1,399 Buy-It-Now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: While I don't think this price will be hit, it's an example where a big name on a key card with a color of parallel that's not a cakewalk to pull (but a good color for a team) can sometimes carry some good demand in the right graded instances. This came from a low-end pack -- and it's one where I own a BGS 9.5 (yay!) -- and I think cards like this are a safe buy or a solid reason you should be shredding wax. Other parallels are out there in various pack types and others are numbered and far rarer than this one ... but a Super Bowl LIV win will be one where the Mahomes markets will be tested and we could see some serious surprises among card sales.
