This one is a quick idea for a new department here on The Buzz ... Fast Five -- a quick list under a simple topic that might offer a basic starting point for a themed collection. It's a basic list of five items that could be fun for a starting collector or a new way to add to a stash that might already seemingly include everything when it comes to cardboard. For some of you, it's probably common sense. For others of you out there, it's something to think about.

This time? Some collector-minded picks from 2020 Bowman.

A PERFECT CARD
Bo Bichette -- 2020 Bowman base set No. 52

For years as part of the current Topps run (1989 to today), Bowman was dubbed "The Home of The Rookie Card." That may be a tad overshadowed by the prospect sets these days and in this one  -- especially since the Rookie Card logo change in 2006 -- but this card is a perfect one and he's a key rookie in this year's crop. Forget all those new hot prospects (we'll get to them), but my first hunt here would be a bulk lot of this card as they could be overlooked compared to others but with a good collector upside and potential if in high-grade slabs. (Especially once the bulk-rippers are done and boxes dry up some.) Aesthetically, this could end up being one of his best RCs of the year.

Keep reading for four more making up the list this time.

RARE PARALLELS
Bowman Scouts Top 100 Gary Vee
Variations (18 cards)
If you check out the absolute last line of the odds on a 2020 Bowman blaster box, you'll find these cards listed at one in 5,880 packs -- that's a super-rare pull considering there are just six packs per blaster. There's just a minor change on the fronts -- that's a Gary Vee autograph on the top left  -- and these are serial-numbered to only 55 copies on the lower right (this is a mock). I doubt many bulk rippers would miss these but you never know so check Top 100 cards closely if you happen to go through boxes. Several players, but nowhere near the 100, are included here with thoughts from the collector-entrepreneur on the back. These do not have parallels -- it's one version for all 18 cards and then you're done for the set. (The standard version gets all the parallels.)

THE BIGGIE
Jasson Dominguez -- 2020 Bowman Prospects set No. BP-8
This is the card people are searching for and it's going to be one that a lot of people will sit on as well as one where a lot of people will try to flip. Now is the time perhaps for both moves but later is when we'll know whether they were all steals or he's perhaps a bust -- that's the name of the game with speculating on prospects. He's just 17 right now and is as hyped as it gets for a team that's known for its pinstripe power propelling prospects onward and upward price-wise. A thought: I'm not sure if everybody's are this way, but the two paper versions I pulled had a rougher texture to the fronts of the cardboard ... so maybe Chrome is the safer buy/grade/hold right now? Either way, everything Dominguez has in this one will be in demand -- and he's got a few appearances and plenty of parallels.

LOADED BOTH WAYS
2020 Bowman 1990 Bowman set (50 cards)

If you were around cardboard in 1990, this may not be the most-memorable of the sets from back then, but this re-do on Chrome stock in this one is interesting to me in that it's got a mix of prospects and notable veterans and the design gives the photograph a serious ride way more than anything else in 2020 Bowman. Most cards here have portraits helping give them a simple feel without the irregularity of action shots. It could have an appeal beyond some of the other insert sets in different ways and is still big enough it could be a project. Like other sets here, if you want a challenge, you can chase the various Refractor versions.

A SMALL SET
2020 Bowman Spanning The Globe (20 cards)

A simple project for a younger collector to build without breaking the bank (or one for the old kids who don't want to chase super-rare ink here, considering box costs) might be this set, which simply spotlights where 20 international players came from. One of my first guys I found here was Jasson Dominguez and it doesn't hurt that Wander Franco and Luis Robert are found here, too. Like other sets here, if you want a challenge, you can chase the various Refractor versions.
