What's buzz-worthy: Plates & Patches returns to the gridiron with a nearly hits-only approach with big names from the past and present as well as plenty of cardboard for the new rookie class.

The Basics: There will be one base card and one parallel per box along with the hits. The base set will include 200 veterans and rookies (/99) with Blue (/50), Purple (/30), Green (/20), Red (/10) and 1/1 Gold parallels and "some of the most beautiful photography and premium autograph/memorabilia content of the year," according to Panini. The hits here will all be maxed at just 99 copies per card. ... There are six different autograph inserts in this one with Leaps and Bounds, rookie patch autos, Signal Callers, All Hall, Upper Echelon and Playmakers. The sets will have the same parallel rundown as the base cards. ... For memorabilia cards there will be Full Coverage jumbo patches and Double Coverage two-player patches. These cards (/99) will have Blue, Purple, Red and Gold parallels only with the same volume of production as other cards here. ... Rookie patch autos (/99) will only have Blue (/50), Green (/20) and 1/1 Gold parallels. ... Also possible here? Autographed printing plates. ...
