What's buzz-worthy: Panini once again will test the waters of several familiar brands -- and introduce a few new ones, too -- for baseball fans all in one place with a focus on this year's strong rookie class.

The Basics: There will be more than 20 brands in this one and each pack will include two Optichrome cards, three plastic cards and two holographic cards, while each box will include a pair of Spectra cards. ... Among the new brands or new looks for past releases to be found in this one this time are America's Pastime, Ascension, Playoff, Timeless Treasures, Absolute, Prime, Obsidian, Hometown Heroes and Titan. There will be on-card autos for rookies in the Rookie Cornerstones, Spectra Rookie Jersey Autographs and America’s Pastime Material Signatures sets. ... Among the plastic cards? Certified Mirror Gold parallels will be printed on PVC, while America’s Pastime will use a "PETG/C2S" stock on three on-card auto inserts that will include Boys of Summer, America’s Pastime and America’s Pastime Material Sigs. ... Obsidian inclusions will include standard cards as well as ink while a new Optichromed design will be called Titan. ... The Chronicles base set will be around 20 cards as it competes with other brands in this box that will include Crusade, Contenders Optic, Certified, Limited, Rookies & Stars, Score and Donruss among others. ... Contenders Season Ticket autos will include Cracked Ice versions (/23) with notables including Fernando Tatis Jr., Pete Alonso, Eloy Jimenez and Chris Paddack, while Obsidian autos will have parallels ranging down from 99 copies. ... Boxes once again will carry a suggested retail price of $96 ($16 per pack).
