What's buzz-worthy: Contenders takes the field again with a new rookie crop, some new looks to the past and more from this popular football favorite.

The Basics: The typical hobby box of this one will include at least five autos with one of those being on-card, while there also will be 19 different inserts and parallels atop the base cards. ... Rookie Ticket autos return with Rookie Ticket Stubs (/99 max), Rookie Playoff Tickets (/99 max), Rookie Championship Tickets (/49 max), Rookie Cracked Ice Tickets (/23), Rookie Clear Tickets (/10) and 1/1 Super Bowl Tickets and printing plates. There also will be Rookie Ticket Variations with different design touches and different photos. ... Veteran Ticket autos will include the likes of Patrick Mahomes II, Baker Mayfield, Ezekiel Elliott, Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger with the same parallels but no Clear cards. ... New for this one will be 1998 Rookie Tickets (/20 max) and 1999 Rookie Ticket (/20 max) with Gold (/10) and 1/1 Platinum parallels. ... There also will be 1/1 Golden and Silver Tickets (/2) with the gold cards on 14k gold. ... Among the inserts will be Rookie of the Year Contenders, MVP Contenders, Legendary Contenders, Winning Ticket and Round Numbers. ... Also in the mix for autographs will be MVP Contenders (/49) with Gold (/10) and 1/1 Platinum parallels as well as Rookie of the Year Contenders (/99) with the same parallels. Joining those are Contenders to Canton autos (/20) with the same parallels. ... These 18-pack boxes carry an increased suggested retail price of $175 ($9.72 per pack).

Update (Jan. 8): Panini announces that the 2019 Contenders Football Clear Mosaic Tickets are 1/1 cards. A rundown of who has them is below. Variations have a helmet as part of the design instead of a logo.
